I don't like it that the good in this world sometimes die young, while evil people lay their grey heads down for a good night's sleep. This's a reality that exists whether there's a god or not. But theists just don't offer a more just solution with their payback in the afterlife.
Having everybody believe in karma will not stop them from doing bad things anymore than the threat of going to jail in this life. The United States has more laws than any other nation. We also have more peope in jail than any other nation.
The last time I came in here talking about what all atheists do the members jumped on me with both feet. That happened in this life and I won't do it again, I promise you.
People who do good in this life do so because of who they are and what they experience in this life. Some people regret the bad things they used to do and some people brag about what a bad-assed mofo they used to be. Everybody is not going to respond the way you want them to. You can write a script but human beings will still ad lib.
I agree that to be punished for what we do not know does not make any sense to atheists but put the other way around to see what would happened if we knew why we are being punished.
Suppose in the past life we did many wrong things like torturing or killing people.
By knowing these things we could not possibly carry on with our present life.
The bad feeling of knowing these things would drive us mad and prevent us from acting in a normal way.
Just see what happen with our present life.
All of us in this life have done things that we regret to ever having done.
If we only could go back in time we would act differently but the past is past.
We can not go back.
Nevertheless this feeling of having done stupid or evil things leave a mark in our mind.
Just imagine what would be of us if we only could remember our previous lives.
It is like add the burden of so many previous lives mistakes to our present life's mistakes.
Atheists by not believing in previous lives obviously never think about this.
If they only would think then they would understand that the advantages of knowing our previous lives mistakes would turn into a total disadvantage and disaster that is why is so much better not knowing
what trigger the karma reactions.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.

Rhonda you are mixing my post with yours.
In this way people do not understand which is mine and which is yours.
Please ask a mod to explain you how to do the correct way.

Sorry, theists but:
(1) God may actually be LESS POWERFUL that his/her/their creation. (scientifically speaking)
(2) God may be IMPERFECT, contrary to what theists claim. (scientifically speaking)
[Mankind is getting closer and closer to engineering human level intelligence in software/hardware]
The human brain computes roughly 10^16 to 10^18 synaptic operations per second.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exascale_computing
http://www.research.ibm.com/cognitive-co...hips.shtml
http://people.uwplatt.edu/~yangq/csse411...mercet.doc
Mankind has already made brain based models that compute 10^14 of said total. (IBM etc)
If mankind isn't erased (by some catastrophe), through Moore's Law, mankind will probably make human level constructs by at least 2020.
NOTE: These brain like software/hardware have done more and more human tasks as time passed (PARTICULARLY BETTER THAN HUMAN), and is still improving today, at faster rates.
.
.
.
.
.
[Mankind is non-omniscient and shall probably soon have a specific God property (scientifically speaking)]
Mankind is non-omniscient.
But, we may engineer human level intelligence by at least 2020.
So, mankind may soon hold a theistic-claimed God property, that is the ability to engineer at least human level intelligence.
However, at that probable point in time, mankind will probably not be omniscient.
.
.
.
.
.
So, God may be PROPERLY defined as something that can engineer human level intelligence, BUT:
(1) is probably NOT omniscient, ie NOT PERFECT
and
(2) may be WEAKER than his/her/their creation.
This entertaining animation summarizes the above non-scientifically/thoroughly, but nicely so:

A computer that works like a brain means improved spell checking.

He can't even write a book about himself without making it seem like he's an incompetent asshole, and that the whole story is made-up garbage. So probably not.

And not terribly profound when taken allegorically.

Have you ever noticed all the drug commercials on TV lately? Why is it the side effects never include penile enlargement or super powers?
Side effects may include super powers or enlarged penis which may become permanent with continued use. Stop taking Killatol immediately and consult your doctor if you experience penis enlargement of more than 3 inches, laser vision, superhuman strength, invulnerability, the ability to explode heads with your mind or time travel. Killatoll is not for everyone, especially those who already have convertibles or vehicles of ridiculous size to supplement penis size.
