Do you like being part of a patriarchal society?

I don't like it or hate it, it is what it is. If I had to name one aspect of the patriarchal society that I do not like then it would be that it considers men as working slaves that are destined to provide for and work for others.

It must be so nice for women to be forced to marry at a young age and spend their entire lives caring for their families without the hope of an education and career of their own. You make it sound like women out there are just longing to be your little house wife so they can lounge around all day in designer duds you buy while you slave away. It's made clear by your posts that women are also destined to provide for and work for others. It's just that they're stuck doing it for shitty assholes who think the worst thing about their repressive society is that men have to feed their families.

I don't see a question anywhere you seem to know more about the place I have been living in for 21 years than me, you probably read 2 blog posts so ..yeah, sure, sure, you're pretty knowledgeable I would say.

Hello, pool.  Thanks for your response.  I'm actually confused about something. 

Fathers have an obvious favoritism towards girls so girls receive a default comforting life since fathers run the family. Mothers are however tough with the girls but fathers always intervene to save the precious thing. Mothers seem to prefer their boys but since a mother doesn't have much power in a family structure the boys are left with shit. The only way to remove this imbalance would be to somehow destroy the family unit but then a society would go to shit, so as boys living in a patriarchy we're pretty much stuck with being treated like shit

Are you kidding me? I would've loved it if I were born a woman. Get treated practically like a precious diamond until 20 by dad and then choose a healthy slave(husband) to be my property that works for me and puts up with my nagging until I die? Fucking day dream.

In the household, do the mothers only lack power on paper (formal power)? Do they actually have a considerable amount of informal power?  Also, does age play a factor in how women and men are treated in your society?

Fathers definitely have more power in a household. The kind of power I'm describing is a father has the last word in the household in terms of making a decision. In simple terms, fathers can override a decision made by mother but not the other way around although it would still depend largely on the woman, if she is convincing and smart she can suggest a better decision in the hopes of persuading and it would then depend on the man whether that decision will be considered or not.

Not in any way I can think of right now. I don't think there is a distinction on how an old man or woman is treated, they're just treated like old people. Although, I'll point out grandparents are huge fans of girl children, like give girls huge amounts of bank money kind of love, it's unparalleled and older people are much more harsher towards boys urging them to "be a man", " as a man it's your duty", those kind of things, I've yet to receive a single dime from my grandparents; showing their love through filling my belly up in unproportional levels seem to be their only method of showing love

He sure likes to make threads he knows will piss everyone off just to stir the shit. But as utterly lowly as I think about him even I didn't think he'd be enough of an idiot to completely lie about that. I guess it's impossible for me to underestimate him.

It's interesting how I based my response entirely on his posts here, yet he acted as if I was misrepresenting his culture. Maybe he misrepresented his culture. Anyway, I'm disappointed this isn't a permaban–not because his actions necessarily called for it, but that he might come back.
