Not interested. Don't really give a flying fuck if you're bothered or not. Just so you know.
Right. Because I didn't flop on anything.
My original point to make to Jehanne was that I don't think it matters whether or not we killed anyone. I still stand by that because we showed the world we're willing to bring out the big guns to get serious. The official story is that we were attempting to destroy a series of tunnels they were using to transport arms and soldiers without being seen in plain sight. And if that is the case, great. I don't disagree with that. But still doesn't explain why we had to use such a huge bomb. That's all I'm saying.
Dont claim someone is flip flopping then puss out when it comes time to back up your shit talk.

My expectation is that it takes a really good bang to collapse caves, which means a big bomb. A nuke would do the job, but there is a lot of baggage that would come with that use, that the US won't face with conventional explosives.

That's what the MOAB was designed to do. It did it. Happy chance that so many ISIS assholes got pulverized in the process.

No cud or cloven hoof so should be good to go.
I was just talking to my brother in law. Turns out his dad was on the MOAB design team. The next time I see the old man I'll ask him about it.

If it did that (collapse caves), how did the Afghans get a body count, and, where are all the bodies? My guess is that ISIS was tipped-off prior to the bomb dropping and simply fled elsewhere.

Now you're back to being a dumbass. It has been pointed out to those who can read that the bodies found were OUTSIDE THE FUCKING MINES. Just thought you'd like to know AGAIN.

MOAB was not designed to collapse caves. Look into penetration bombs... MOAB was designed to blow up in the air. Massive Ordinance AIR Blast.
There goes Gawdzilla talking more shit he can't back up.

How did they die, then? I mean, if the collapsed cave didn't kill them.
No need to get nasty, this just doesn't seem to add up.

MOAB was NOT a penetration bomb, it went off at 100 feet. That's how it collapsed the mines. Damn you're dumb.

No need to get nasty, this just doesn't seem to add up. MOAB was designed to deliver several thousand PSI over-pressure, that would pulverize bone. The flame radius was 1000 feet, the blast radius was much farther.
For those insisting this was a penetration weapon I'd ask you to parse out MASSIVE ORDNANCE AIR BLAST. See if you can figure out what "air blast" means. I'll wait.

Quote:The MOAB is an air burst weapon intended for soft to medium surface targets over an extended area, an Air Force official told Defense News on background. While it doesn’t have the penetrative capability that some other munitions have, it is optimized for as targets in environments like caves, canyons or an extensive mine fields.
That could be one reason why it was used Thursday. During the mission, an MC-130 piloted by Air Force special operators dropped the 21,600 pound, GPS-guided ordnance in the Achin district of Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, a Central Command news release stated.
"As ISIS-K's losses have mounted, they are using IEDs, bunkers and tunnels to thicken their defense," Gen. John W. Nicholson, the top commander in Afghanistan, said according to the release. "This is the right munition to reduce these obstacles and maintain the momentum of our offensive against ISIS-K."
One advantage of using the MOAB, as opposed to other precision guided weapons like a Tomahawk or JDAM, is extremely high explosive content that creates a large blast area over the surface of the battlefield, said Steve Zaloga, a senior analyst with the Teal Group. The pressure from that explosion likely detonated many improvised explosive devices.
“So it may just be a quick way to clear a large surface area of the IED threat while at the same time doing a great deal of damage to any ISIS troops that are in the area,” he said. “This is not necessarily the kind of weapon that you use to very deep or very heavily reinforced caves, but obviously a blast this size will collapse smaller more vulnerable caves.”
