Quote:Republicans’ Obamacare plan would dump Medicaid expansion, taxes
Quote:The Republican bill would abolish most Obamacare taxes, including on medical devices, health insurance premiums, indoor tanning salons, prescription medications and high-cost employer-provided insurance known as “Cadillac” plans.
Those taxes paid for Obamacare. Republicans have not said how they would pay for the parts of the law they want to keep.
As always, deficits only matter when democrats are in power.
The dumb shits will pass a bill that will die in the senate and think they accomplished something.

It's a halfway decent gambit. Run up the deficit while you're in power while getting rid of all of the regulations that keep you and your friends from making unfettered amounts of money, lose an election after the damage has been done, then point at how slow the recovery is when the other party tries to clean up the piddle you left. And the anger from a failing or not recovering quickly enough economy wins them the midterm and gives them a shot at the next presidential election.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

There's been an active war on the poor and middle class (and I mean ACTIVE KILL YOU ALL WAR) since Obama was elected. They've done everything in their power, to take away every scrap of social security safety nets that have been in place for decades. Now theyre, just going to town, with free reign to do so!
Today we found out that my stepmoms medicaid will not be covering her neck pain shots anymore, for her degenerative spine disease. Granted we were hoping she could get a spinal fusion which the spinal surgeon said she qualified for--but that too, is out the window as of now. I suspect medicaid is trying to postpone surgery until her eligibility ends in August. So today, after years of sobriety from alcohol, they handed her a bottle of narcotics and said that's all we can do. In a few years time she'll be in a wheelchair at best, with a neck brace to hold her head up for her.
My heart is crying.
We are a society, and we all have one need or another. Down to illegal aliens who have life the roughest, the fact that our nation has uninsured children of ANY nationality or status, and children with starving bellies being shamed and tortured at lunch for not having lunch money--their trays being thrown in the trash, perfectly good food wasted because of 'policy'? What an absolute shameful show and example of the irreparable damage that the GOP in charge all thsee years, is willing to mplement on its own people for greed, and in protest to President Obama. Instead of improving and representing their constituents, they spent 8 years stallworting, thwarting, throwing temper tantrums, and investigating hillary Clinton a dozen times for nothing! Where.. where's the investigators now, where's the prosecutors now, when Trump committed treason on live tv? TWICE?! It's called the Emoluments clause. The establishment Republicans are running this shit show, happy to allow Trump to self detonate and detract from the dealings they're doing to the nation's healthcare and social services that we ourselves pay taxes into and our parents paid into too! Apparently Paul Ryan et all have been dreaming of starving children and ripping money from the needy since their " kegger days". How much more morally corrupt can you be??
I worry for my step mom, and for when she needs comprehensive medical care. Will she get it? I also worry for all those single moms living day to day trying to feed their babies due to mediacid cuts, or having been up all night with their sick child, debating whether she can afford to take them in to the urgent care. Worried she can't afford children's tylenol even. Worried about missing work that day, to take care of her baby, knowing that she has a high probability of being fired. Starting a new job usually takes 2wis to get payroll going. What would the landlord do if she were late on rent??
Questions, worries.. things noone needs to worry about in a nation swimming in tax funds, yet can't seem to take care of the people who pay those taxes??
What about meals on wheels?!! By god, that's a program that costs so little because the elderly are paying per meal, just discounted and having them brought to their house! And I, a person on lifelong disability get a whopping 15$ food stipend a month, which I've used every month up until last month when they took that away too!
All these cuts.. they equate to so, so many people suffering.
Government layoffs? That means never getting a hold of customer service at medicaid, being referred to an online site or a phone center that hangs up on you because there are "too many in the queue". You have to get up at 7am, dial the number prior, and hit send exactly at 8 in a race to talk to a medicaid representative or get ahold of someone at the Health and Human Services, never being allowed to meet with your case worker after the initial vetting appointment. And thats if you're lucky enough to get through the application process, and even then--what kind of coverage are our children and elderly and disabled --not to mention healthy or semi healthy struggling working class, getting? Well they cut WIC (women and childen in crisis) in Kansas 2014. They cut a LOT of programs when I was in Wichita. One month out of nowhere, the power company held the city hostage by quadrupling eVeryones hea ting bills in bone chillingly cold January. For February, me and my sister just wore heavy clothes and bundled under comforters for warmth. My dog was my bed Heater. The kids got the space heater and we were still gouged in March, for the Dec--February electric bill. We even went lightless, and used candle fgs. No idea how my room alone wracked up $600 in 2 months. Sister had to pay for her room and the kids room, so, double. There went her tax returns! She almost had a breakdown, unable to fathom how she could afford her last year of college!
Anyways If you want a good picture of where this is going--a perfect example of how this is going to affect people day to day? Look at Kansas. The following is sort of me going off on a tangent about my experiences as the poorest and neediest of society, but it shows the depth and effects that these legislative decisions have, on those who get the shabby end of the deal (which in this case, is everyone but the rich and corporations).
An American Lower Class tale, and premonition of what's surely going to come to paed as the new norm. Where government policy and medicine and patients collide.
See, Kansas was the Republicans test tube experiment on their "trickle down economics theory". The same one that the current administration is implementing as we speak! Cut business tax altogether, and pray. Well all the rich did, which is what the rich always do when they get money-- is hoard the profits, and laid off working class jobs in the tens of thousands! Entire hospital networks were shut down! My sister, who worked 2 jobs and was finally finishing up nursing school--got her food stamps CUT unceremoniously for her and the kids. She refused to let theiR diets suffer quality, so they would get the healthy protein and veggies, milk and snacks--and after they ate, she'd cook up some Ramen noodles for herself and read her textbooks or do homework with the kids ad then go finish her homework.
Because Kansas was entirely Republican run, down to the last sheriff of the smallest bound town in the state--they chose to opt out of Obamacare and make fun of the mooCher states that did work with the President on the new law of the land--insurance for all. It wasn't lerfect, still needs tons of work, but you can bet that the powers that be, vowed to make life a living hell for everyone at no cost too great. They made everyone pay so badly, blaming of course Obama. For everything. Even minorities had that rhetoric when we spoke at the doctors office, in taxis (I'm friendly !), and fellow neighbors at my apartment complex, etc.
The social safety nets disapeared overnight. There was zero zip nada support system for transport to appointments for disabled, and elderly (unless you signed up with a church which is where these privatization programs went, btw). Being a smaller city, the entire city had the hospitals all in line sharing info (illegally) with one another whilst aligning themselves with govern mentioned policies and agendas. I can tell you right now, based upon my experience, the agenda is "survival of the fittest". For example--just so you can see what I mean-- my autoimmune disease decided to flare through the current treatment I was on. I went to a hospital having been diagnosed with collitis 4 MO prior, was laughed at because I was complaining of unbearable abdominal pain, and report that the new medication doesn't seem to be helying at all. The ER doctor said and I quote "of course you came in. You're just a drain on society, coming in here for a chronic issue. I expect you want pain medications then?". Well I called my PCP who got me admitted against the ER docs suggestion to street me--then I spent a full WEEK begging them to do another colonoscopy to confirm the collitis is still there so I could get some goddamn pain management and put on against different Chrones treatment before my colon ended up looking like hamburger, as it had done in the past. See, I'd done this before. Only I had the collitis for 3 yeaRs!
I don't know why but they fought me. Admonished me. Told me I didn't have collitis --something I knew for a fact that they could not possibly know because they hadn't taken proper diagnostics to know this! Their problem was that I knew better, and I was demanding medical treatment. I knew how it felt, I knew they hadn't even run the diagnostic tests despite bloody stools and it could've been so easy for them to do so, but ..they didnt. Eventually I was too exhausted to fight anymore. I was told by the gastrointestinal doctor I'd get a colonoscopy when HE wanted to do it, not when I demanded he do. So, with no other option, I gave up. I had nothing, no one. I was discharged anemic, unable to walk ten feet on my own to the taxi needing the taxi driver to literally carry me into my apartment into my ROOM! He could've done anything, I was so weak. But he had a good heart. I know I was sent home anemic because I read my own labs that I'd demanded copies of that they wouldn't give me until after I'd signed dischrge. I ended up in the ER the next day when the pain clinic told me they don't treat abdominal pain with pain meds and that I should go to the ER. I did, hoping a different hospital would have different outcome.
I was gIve pain meds for 4 days worth snd sent home. By then I had no food or ability to shop, I requested home health services and got someone who came by to take me for a walk like a dog instead of the nursing and home health CNAs that i knew existed, but just wrent coming. That.. was it.
I resorted to pawning my things. Risked my life with dealers and lawfulness acquiring Marijuana which was the only relief I could find in desperation. And so it was as I went 2 months with a chronic fever and bloody stools, unable to eat I lost weight a lot.
Then, the day came finally. I spent a whole night using the colonoscopy prep made with tools flavoring of Citrus flavor, which burned my intestines so incredibly badly I almost passed out on the toilet! I don't know about you, but that's not how I wanna go. That's not how I want go be found when I die!
Disabled, flaring through my immunosuppressant with ulcerative collitis and too broke to pay taxi to get to the hospital or doctor appointments, the next day, I went in for that colonoscopy/endoscopy (with a fever), and when I woke up I was coughing up blood. The doctor was so ashamed? He didn't bother briefing me after the procedure. A nurse, swearing and saying it was uncalled for that he'd do that, gave me images of my colon and told me I did have colitis and that they took 42 biopsies. Meaning.. I had a LOT of collitis!
Went back to the ER when his office nor any of my other doctors offices STILL would not prescribe me anything for pain because the gastroenterologis wouldn't sign off on the procedure paperwork so I couldn't even get copies of my own records. I went back to the ER, half dead, dizzy sitting and standing, registered 103 temp upon arrival, and I gave the images I'd gotten to the ER doc who called the specialist. She discharged me. Handed me a pain script, told me she didn't want to see me at her hospital again. Didn't take a temp with dischrge, I found myself penniless on the street in a bad part of town, so I staggered my way across the street to the pharmacy during rush hour. As I crossed the street, barely able to walk a straight line, I remember thinking, well at least if I collapse there's four intersections worth of people who might help me and I'm still wearing my ER bracelet. I got the scripts, got home thanks to another kind taxi driver willing to take a silver coin for payment, my last one and the very last of my inheritance from my grandparents, and I collapsed in bed. Took some tylenol and prayed that I would wake up. With a temp like that I could've died, certainly. The next day my dad happened to be trucking back into town and he took emergency time off to take me to Colorado to my mom.
When I got to Colorado and tried the same thing at a hospital there, the ER doc called my specialist, things were said, he then discharged me dizzy and delerious and said I don't even need to take tylenol for the fever. And that was it, I was sure I'd be dead. My mom tried to care for me but the fever, dehydration, vomiting, it all was too much.
In a last ditch effort to save my life, I went back to that ER to put up one more fight! I didn't have to fight though. They actually did a test! An xray of my lung since I was dizzy. Turns out I had pnemonia so badly, I needed to have my lungs flushed in an emergency procedure. I'd been septic for who knows how long.. I woke up in a hospital bed, finally, getting antibiotics and pain medictions from a nurse and hospitalists who were truly horrified at my experiences!! The hospitality gastroenterogist got the records from my recent colonoscopy and handed me the pictures I'd gotten the day of the procedure, and had carried with me to showthat I had collitis. He said that I had the worst case of collitis he's ever seen, that I probably need to lose the colon (which eventually I did get a colectomy), and told me that the pictures in my hands (which looked bad to me) were the best picture of my entire colon. Apparently that snake doctor in Kansas had given me misrepresentative photos on purpose!
Had I not bypassed Kansas hospital beurocracy and policy--I'd have died within days. Something that to be honest with you-- I expect and truly feel, was the plan of these Kansas doctors! Survival of the fittest, deny expensive patients to putter off and die.
I was 28 at the time. Able to speak and advocate for myself and had experience in the medical field. Imagine how it must be for elderly??? Either they die of the cold or neglect or strvation at home--or they're put in an overcrowded facility where every day and night is living hell.
Here in Colorado, hospitals are still fairly self determined. And there's so many so big, there's no way to get stonewalled like I was in Kansas. Independent hospitals are the best, secular ones like the one that saved my life are nice. Not all cities and states have a choice, and in certain situations that becomes a problem. Like if you're pregnancy is self terminating, the baby is for sure going to die, but you're at a Catholic hospital so as long as the child has a heartbeat they can't remove it. So the child dies slowly within her womb.
Medicare for all is the only way, and it can be done so easily as the program already exists! Medicaid is the problem, they dont carry their own weight. In my case Medicare paid for the fault of the physicians' stubborn-ness, malevolence, or ignorance and failure to treat me. Medicare knows no state border boundaries so if you get sick on vacation you aren't scrambling to find a provider your insurance will cover for your emergent need! , I see the same physicians that millionaires do. Medicare is the best insurance available, and I believe Kansas owes Medicare money for alllll of that BS they put me through. Medicare needs it's own lawyers and case workers to monitor when doctors and hospitals are mistreating a patient at Medicare's expense. If a doctor is incompetent, why should he get paid??? In England a doctors salary is based on their patients wellness performance. Gee, incentive to get patients healthy? Sounds outstanding right???
Anyways I heard not too long after, that the Kansas State government confiscated the funds Obama had set aside to help elderly and disabled with our prescription copays, knowing Medicare doesn't pay all of the med costs, and medicaid would not be picking up the copays like they were before. Apparently Kansas needed the funds to balance their budget, over seniors and children and disabled and needy getting medicine. The trickle down policy is nothing but a way for gov officials to pocket money, cut peoples social security nets, and profit big businesses who lobby them to do so. Latest news out of Kansas? They still can't seem to balance the budget, so tax increases are in store. Surprise surprise.

If they want to fix the deficit get out of war stop with with the over bloated military cut the military
at least if you want to use money for military R&D. Put back most the money cut from the military into the US for roads, education, etc
and fucking healthcare.

Looks like it's going to pass the house.
Can someone please invent something that can transfer cancer from children to politicians? Because I'd like to see that happen. I will gladly fund working prototypes.
