Or... he didn't authorize the Old Testament. It was fraud. Not really divine inspiration? What's it going to be? Either Jesus is the son of the god and they're one in the same, or Jesus disagrees with his dad, or the Bible is man inspired (not the word of the god) and it's no wonder it's a load of contradictions.
I don't know how this can be confusing. Lol
My belief is that God never changed.
God did not write the bible. And while the people who wrote it were "inspired" by God, it was still written by people, through their own perception and their own way of explaining whatever message they needed to get across. Jesus came partially to set the record straight on certain things that people weren't really getting "right." I guess that's why He was so controversial. He was saying many things that contradicted what was written and how people at the time were interpreting.
But anyway, I should say that's why the bible is not the end all be all of my faith.
This is an honest response. Thank you.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Matty 5:18
Last I looked, heaven and earth are still here.
Since the rest of the new testament testifies that we are no longer under the requirements of the law, Jesus obviously wasn't saying that we must follow all the requirements of the law. I think he clarifies his position in the following verses:
Matthew 22:36-40English Standard Version (ESV)
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
We are required to follow these two commandments, and in doing so we are fulfilling the old testament law. The Jews, obsessed with following ordinances, never did understand the true spirit and requirements of the law.

Are you saying that an unchanging God cannot establish different laws to people at different times? He established the law for the purpose of demonstrating that people were unable to follow it. It demonstrated that we are unable to justify ourselves to God. That is why we needed Jesus to make the sacrifice for us. God didn't change his mind, rather it was all part of his plan for us.
What does unchanging mean to you? Does it mean that if God was happy and then he became angry about something that means he changed? Or maybe if he decided to make a covenant with Moses and then another covenant with Moses, then that means he changed. I guess if I give my 14 year old son a ten o'clock curfew and then change it to eleven when he turns 16, that means I'm changing into a different person.
Pffft. I made some comments. Further back I said I don't debate anymore. It's just so annoying to me. Yes, your god could have made different laws at different times. He can be the same in character, but get angry at times. If this is what you're suggesting, your god is an asshole. So he was nice later, but a murderer before. Eff. But! I don't argue with theists anymore. No point. Unless I'm bored, or they severely trigger me. You haven't, so I really have nothing more to add.

Hmm . . .
and even when Jesus changes something, like dropping 4 commandments (and adding a new one) when asked which ones to keep, you'd be hard pressed to find a contemporary US Christian today that would ever consider advocating Jesus 'short list' being carved in stone and displayed on their churches lawn.
Always comes back to getting Jesus to fall in line behind his 21st century fans, don't it ??

Interesting to contemplate who would be in more trouble with his modern era followers, Jesus or Joe Smith. Joe would definitely be in a shit load of trouble with current LDS administration, and I suppose, current LDS administration would be in considerable trouble with Joe Smith.
As for Jesus, while hard to know precisely what would set him off the worst, and simultaneously get him in deep doggy poo with current leading Christian denomination leaders, I'd think a good case could be made for his total shock at all of the current era 'Christian' leaders fronting a religion about Jesus instead of Jesus' own professed religion; Judaism. And of course, even hearing His expression of outrage as to just how far off the mark they are, they will crucify Him a second time rather than institute his brand of reformed apocalyptic Judaism regardless of the size of hissy fit He might pitch.

Well if you ask me I think that the so called "good parts" of Jesus like the "Love thy neighbor" are the best evidence of not just how fake Christianity is but also how evil it is.
So let me explain....
For starters the phrase "Love thy neighbor as thyself" already appears in Leviticus 19:18, written a thousand years before Christ.
Or Golden Rule was already a widespread teaching well before Jesus, like Confucius in 500 BCE in "The Doctrine of the Mean 13": "What you do not want others to do to you, do not do to others." As well as Isocrates (375 BCE) said, "Do not do to others what would anger you if done to you by others." And many more.
Nevertheless Christian preachers, who surely know better, perpetuate falsehood and lie to Christians (like Lek and Catholic Lady among others) that Jesus himeslf came up with this and other "good" stuff. And that this is supposed to be the proof that he is god because this is so moral that no mere mortal could come up with this.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus also urged his listeners, "Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also" (Matt. 5:39) and "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy' But I say o you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matt. 5:43-44).
Again these were old corny stuff even in time of Jesus, like in Taoism in text "Tao Te Ching" which goes: "I treat those who are good with goodness. And I also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. I am honest with those who are honest. And I am also honest with those who are dishonest. Thus honesty is attained" and this was written centuries before Jesus.
As well as in Buddhism in Dhammapada 223 the same thing is written: "Conquer anger by love. Conquer evil by good. Conquer the stingy by giving. Conquer the liar by truth"
Also in Ramayana: "One should never harm the wicked or the good or even criminals meriting death. A noble soul will ever exercise compassion even towards those who enjoy injuring others or those of cruel deeds when they are actually committing them—for who is without fault?"
In other words no original moral concept of any significance can be found in the New Testament. All the so called sentiments attributed to Jesus are were familiar in the Jewish schools, and to all the Pharisees, long before the time of Christ, as they were familiar in all the civilizations of the that time - Egyptian, Babylonian, and Persian, Greek and Hindu.
So the question persists, why don't Christians worship Confucius who said this stuff before Jesus? The answer is Confucius didn't threaten and blackmail people with fire and perpetual torture if they don't listen to his sayings.
Indeed when you look at people who came up with Jesus myth you see how they invented it just like Ron Hubbard invented Scientology. That they took the corny motifs from Greek and other mythologies and this well known stuff and sayings of morality and made it into business. Religious business, that is. It's so much like when you listen Harlan Ellison how Ron Hubbard made Scientology: he wanted to make a lot of money and discovered the best way is to invent religion. Since he was SF writer he hang around in those circles and they told him maybe he could use orgon energy, angrams (something like forgotten memory) and so on.
Here's the vid, the story about Scientology starts after 6th minute.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Love thy neighbor as myself is one of the most narcissistic idea's ever
I never treat a neighbor as I treat myself I treat my neighbor as they want to be treated
One is a sign of respect the other is a imposition on them
Seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.

I tried to love my neighbour. Pity her husband came home early.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
