Agreed. I don't think this fixation of death was really a good thing though. Thoughts of an afterlife an all that jazz. ![]() "Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds." Einstein When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life. - John Lennon Quote:But if we assume Neanderthal to have been a single species with gene flow throughout its range, I'm not prepared to make that assumption, though. Clearly, HNS and HSS did interbreed which suggests that by most definitions of the term they were not separate "species." So what to call them? An overly interbred tribe perhaps?
The capacity to interbreed and produce fertile offspring is not enough to make two group a single species. Their behavioral pattern must be such that if placed in contact, they would naturally maintain a steady exchange of genes.
More on the subject:
http://news.discovery.com/human/genetics...10718.html Quote:If your heritage is non-African, you are part Neanderthal, according to a new study in the July issue of Molecular Biology and Evolution. Discovery News has been reporting on human/Neanderthal interbreeding for some time now, so this latest research confirms earlier findings. Wait till the Creationists find out they are part Neanderthal. They'll be begging for the old days when they thought they were part dirt. As for "Species" again, I didn't write the definition. Well, Obviously HNS was not the man mentioned in Genesis. HSS is god's chosen creation, superior to all else in creation and gifted with a soul. HNS has no such soul, and since it would seem that gingers are genetic leftovers...it would follow that they are, in fact, soulless.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Quote:Obviously HNS was not the man mentioned in Genesis. I don't know about that. If you were to listen to the creationist asswipes ( and why would you ever do that?) you'd see that their garden of "eden" is right in HNS territory....where as Africa is where all those cursed Ham sandwiches come from. Able to reproduce means morn than could reproduce only under rare and unusually circumstances even if placed together. If require enough behavioral compatibility to do so with some frequency when possible. Behavioral compatibility is part of reproductive compatibility. I do actually bother to read the Young Earth Creationist "scientific literature" and they assume that HNS, along with Homo Erectus, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo floresiensis etc are different sub-species of HSS. Anyway breeding between different (however closely related) species producing fertile offspring is more common than a lot of people realize.
