Looks like there is no hope for you after all. They were not divinely inspired. They made the whole shit up. Which is why none of it makes any fucking sense.

For a start, the fact that it doesn't make any sense.

What is hard to understand is that anyone could think that it is anything but fables and fairy tales.

I don't know what atheistic skepticism is. I'm not skeptical about being an atheist at all.

We could talk about this until we're blue in the face, won't matter..hehehe. Carlisle, it is just a book, one you have tremendous faith in, sure, but a book nonetheless. At the end of the day, making the claim that the bible is anything other than a book opens the christian concept of god to criticism. Needless criticism, since god (if you choose to believe he exists) would exist if the bible did not. It is a story about peoples beliefs. Some of these beliefs they held before christianity or even judaism were concepts of god. There are many christians who do not believe the bible to be inerrant, or divinely inspired...and whatever disagreement that you or I may have with them on their beliefs, the fact remains that they feel very christian. Requiring that the bible be something more than a story, I think, is unfair to those who believed, and perhaps unfair to those who still believe. It saddles them with the job of "defending the indefensible". Why point to a book for confirmation...when all one needs is faith?

The fact that none of it makes the slightest bit of sense.
God, all knowing and hell for one. Total lack of sense there.
The fact that I'm way nicer than your god, since I'd never send anyone to hell for simply having or lacking certain beliefs. That's just dumb and immature.
The fact that if I had his powers, I wouldn't allow children to starve or disease to so painfully take lives away. The fact that he loves to have his fucking ego stroked and that his ego seems to be far bigger than himself. He's a fucking joke.
