Am I nuts? I like Jesus..:)

Yeah, Jesus talked some good smack. What a thug. Too bad he is just a fictional character believed in fervently by those unfortunate enough to have parents indoctrinate them in the 'faith'. (Scare quotes only because the rigid, literal beliefs of so many Christians are the antithesis of faith. Just unyielding, unthinking insistence that the truth is what has been promised and not what our senses and reason does reveal.)

Ha Ha and there was I thinking atheists didn't have a sense of humour..Smile
Incidentally why do some top atheists have trouble keeping their marriages together?
For example-
Carl Sagan (married 3 times)
Richard Dawkins (married 3 times)
Stephen Hawking (married twice)

Let's guess how it went in Dawkins case-
Wifeys 1and 2 in bed- "Oh Dickie darling, talk sexy to me!"

Steady on, that's only out-of-context Old Testament stuff!
If God wanted us to stick with the Old T he wouldn't have sent JC to give us the New T, (the clue is in the name)..Smile
Jesus didn't care if anybody was born out of wedlock- "Whoever comes to me I'll never turn away"
PS- I was conceived out of wedlock and it was such a heinous social crime in those days that my panicking parents quickly had a shotgun wedding to cover it up.
Dunno if they discussed aborting me, but abortion was common in those days and their friends and neighbours would have probably thought "Oh well, it was for the best", and wouldn't have minded if they'd have aborted me, but I might have minded..Smile

I remember in one lesson when teech had given us an algebra equation to do, I whispered to my mate Sam- "Why do we have to do this algebra shit? What's it FOR?", but he simply replied "I ain't got a friggin clue why we have to do it, now shut up and just DO it or you'll get another caning!"

I doubt you were expelled because you didn't want to do your Algebra homework. Therefore, why were you really expelled?

Got any proof for that claim (note: the bible itself is the claim, so quoting it is merely restating the assertion)?

The snooty priests and Romans could easily have debunked christianity by finding Jesus's body, but they never could because he was alive and well far away through the 'Jesus Stargate' just like he'd told people earlier-
"I know where I came from and where I am going, but you have no idea where I come from or where I am going " (John 8:14/ 8:23/10:38/Matt 13:35)
Maybe they should have sent out a probe..Smile

Eh, I already called him out on that and never got an answer.

Sorry if I've missed any of your posts guys, but they're coming thick and fast, the answer to that one is that atheist books are the source for atheists assertions, so why shouldn't the bible be the source for christian assertions?..Smile

What Min said.  Matthew 5:18.  Right from your own book of repulsive genocidal 2000 year old fairy tales.  You sure keep splattering quotes from that monstrous compilation all over the place, as if they mean anything.  As I said many posts ago, the ridiculous old book proves less than nothing.  I could grab quotes from Harry Potter that would be more interesting and have more relevance.   If your imaginary friend exists and isn't utterly and completely impotent and incompetent, then have it show up and say "hi".  A creature that supposedly created billions of galaxies should be able to do that - particularly in an era where a 7-year-old can make a post on Facebook and have it traverse the globe.  No deity worth a second's notice needs a HUMAN BEING to speak FOR it.

One piece of evidence.  One little itty bitty bit of proof.  People have been trying to find it for more than 2000 years without success.

Oh, and by the way, it was a political move.  Constantine was never christian.  He needed to get the leaders of a squabbling cult to agree on something, and he needed to find a way to control the squabbling cult.

I've read the wholly babble cover to cover many times.  I was made to memorize it as a child.  That's how I know it's crap.

Oh, I like some of the stuff ol' JC reportedly said, if he existed.  The taking care of your neighbor bit was cool, mostly because it called out selfishness, religious bigotry, thinking that you're "too good" to take care of lowly scum who aren't as holy as you are, all of that crap.  The hero of the story was somebody too lowly for a "righteous Jew" to speak to.  I like some of the stuff in the Buddhist writings, I like the book of the Tao, and Confucius is cool.  Mostly.

But "like" Jesus?  Jesus is dead, if he ever existed.  The concept is weird.  I like lots of fictional characters, but they have no impact on real life.  Just like Jesus.  The only problem is I don't have assholes getting in my face throwing fits that I don't LIKE Batman and quoting lines from comic books and movies as if they were important.

JC TRASHED the harshness of the Old T by superimposing an enlightened approach on it,  and people quicky cottoned on..Smile-
