That gig has already been tried:

As one of Pabbi's kidlets, I highly approve of this message. Big Grin

Jesus, predictions of the numbers of visitors to the area I am traveling to are getting scary.

I've been offered a pasture area to park in way out in Nebraska and, LOL, aesthetically it's a little crude, but if the area is crawling with people, I gotta admit it's looking better and better with every increased crowd size prediction I hear.

Latest weather prediction, however, has reasonable chances of few clouds for St. Joe/Beatrice/Lincoln/Grand Island zone, so hopefully most of the folks will still head thataway, and stay away from my remote (and 1930s Dust Bowl time capsule looking) spot !!

There is a 90+ mile swath of totality across Southern Kentucky. Majority of roads are rural two lane blacktops. We are being told to expect 400,000-500,000 people on Monday. (My county has 38,000 residents) They expect cell phone systems to crash just from the amount of people getting directions. The stores are already running out of food because locals are treating this like a major ice storm. Prices for camping/ hotels/ restaurants are reaching gouge levels. Schools / banks/ utility offices are closed. Local hospitals are requiring essential staff to be on site Sunday morning and not leaving until Monday evening. Should be an interesting Monday.

I think it might be a good idea to bring a few nonperishable noms with me on the train, just in case the mob has eaten everything in Carbondale.

Shaw Nature Preserve, in Missouri, will be less crowded I think. It's #2 on our list of sites.

And a reminder, since I keep hearing confusion on TV:

If you are in the path of totality, during totality, you don't need the eclipse glasses.

When that part is over, you will definitely know it, a very bright point will appear on the opposite side from where the last bright point disappeared before totality and then PUT YOUR GLASSES BACK ON

If you are not in the path of totality, you will need eclipse glasses EVERY TIME YOU LOOK AT THE SUN.

Absolutely correct, although, you may look at the Sun with your naked eye when (and, only when) it is at the horizon:

The exception, of course, is during the total phase of a solar eclipse!!!!  Sadly, there will probably be thousands of people (many of them Trump supporters and/or regular Fox News viewers) who will miss the total eclipse because they refused to take their solar glasses off.
