This is a splendid topic !
I can't specify my country exactly; but I'm Arabic. Once upon a time, this whole region was one, producing different music but with a unified label.

So; here we go:

My favorite favorite from the historic bunch. Turks are to the east of the region, they are not Arabs, but they used to rule this region. A mixture between Asia, Arabia and Europe. So, the Ottoman empire was quite something.. That's a song for the old time if you wanna call it like that.. makes me wanna cry.

Then came the generation of the 90s. This one is a single favorite, from Iraq, despite my hate for the singer (makes me feel too gloomy):

Last, from this age, this is the Lebanese "Nansy Ajram"; she is so talented. The song though is so Arabic; and has the proper rhythm all through:

I didn't see this before, her voice is just amazing! and the Arabic bit flavored the singing, I hoped if he sung for a longer time.

Yeah, she sings opera in about 6 languages ... She is the original Mrs Webber! (Andrew Lloyd Webber)

He wrote Phantom to suit her wide octave range...

Everyone's probably sick of "It's time to say goodbye" but if you haven't seen her sing with Andrea Bocelli, check it out...
