I was raised Catholic... some similarities. Catholicism is very institutional, I assume Orthodox is the same. I wonder though if all of the authors of biblical texts really believed. Maybe some just wanted power.

I think the ones who wrote it had good intentions but like any other thing it can be used to do bat things. For example, how Nietzsche's sister modifyed his work in order to use it to suport Nazism.
And because it was designed to offer emotional comfort it can easily be used to manipulate. I just need to find someone who is in need of help, I offer him comfort and guidance , give him meaning and then I can make him do whatever I want.

Yep. There's always an angle with religion. "Yeah, I'm helping you because that means I'm a good person, and hopefully Yahweh will notice."

Can' really understand why religion is blamed for things like the Inquisition , it's not like it trasformed into a human and started killing people.

Some here heap upon religion more accusations of cruelty than it deserves, but the Inquisition seems pretty cut and dry. Religion was to blame for that one. People were tortured until they converted. Jewish villages were raided because their faith was different from the Catholic Church.

Yes I can blame the church because most of the wanted power but I can say religion is to blame because it existed and it was used to kill and torture.
I sayed most because not all priest want that , especialy the monks. Our church became a very corupt institution and i talked with a monk 4 or 5 months ago amd he sayed that he isn't pleased with what it happens but they can't do anything because that isn't the religious way , that they can't start a riot.

Monks are generally better than the laity about that sort of thing. So are you saying that "religion" as a human concept is not responsible? Or do you mean that Christianity is not responsible?

Religion as a human concept . In general people will use any mean necesary to gain power over others. Religion is the most used because it plays on emotions , than the emotions overcome ration , than you have your puppy.

But then doesn't that contradict what you said about religion not being responsible for the Inquisition? Once you have your puppy, then you train it to attack whomever you want.

It is not responsible in the way that I can use a hammer to build a house but I can also use it to kill people , I make the choice. I blame their poor interpretation and that they even contradicted the bible, Jesus sayed to love your enemys , Jesus beeing the same as God they disobeyed the word by starting the Inquisition , and they also have the statement of him saying that one should throw the rock if he is without sin, second time they contradicted God.
