I think they were justified here in the case of both her and I, not because we were insulting each other, but because we were wrecking the thread.
The criticisms I have of the Staff's behavior in other issues is unrelated. Just because I don't approve of their actions in another thread doesn't mean that I disapprove all their actions, even when it cuts against me. It just means that those other decisions were in my mind flawed.
I'm fine with being the asshole I was there, and stand by what I wrote. But I also understand that doing that made the thread a mess for others to wade through, and I view the staff's decision through that lens. They wanted to preserve the discussion by removing the distractions. I'm cool with that; I understand that they have different priorities than I do.
I also don't think it's a gigantic big deal. I'm not permitted for one week to comment in one particular thread. I've already made my points in that thread, and they're in there for everyone to read ... if that's even important. Maybe if I felt like I had a stake in the place I'd care, but I've seen enough to know better. I come here for a few people I really enjoy.
They duct-taped a couple of loudmouths in order to save the thread. Not a bad move in my book -- better two than all get shut out, I think. And I earned it.

Looks to me like she's not complaining about "punishment", but about sloppy moderating. The guy suggested banning her after he speedbumped the thing even though she observed his warning assiduously -- as you yourself noted.
Criticizing moderation is going to happen, and it should, when it's done with an obvious lack of homework, as it was in this case.

That's not fair to use a singular event to paint as consistent incompetence on the part of someone else. LP has contributed quite a lot as a member of the Staff. The Staff considered the post report and came to a consensus on what to do about it. I am sorry for the anxiety this has caused you.
To be fair, I reviewed the context, saw what others posted here in the Peanut Gallery and passed that on. I do not believe you were at serious risk for being banned, not even temporarily.
