NFL 2017 Pick'em League!
RE: NFL 2017 Pick'em League!
Blake Bortles
Nick Foles
Case Keenum

At least one, and possibly two of those quarterbacks will start in the Super Bowl.

What kind of season is this?!?

I think the defender was basically trying to prevent Diggs from getting out of bounds. If Diggs had gotten out of bounds, we would have been in range for a Kai Forbath field goal. So he tried to hit him on the outside to knock Diggs back into the field of play. He just missed. I think it was the right thing to do, he just didn't execute very well.

He missed and took out the only other defender who could take him down. A disaster.

Happy for you though, hoping for a Patriots Vikings super bowl!

I keep watching that final play and just laughing. I don't know how we'll do in Philly, but that was a beautiful moment.

Though I'm obviously pleased that the Vikings advance to play the Eagles, I can't help but feel a little dirty about this one. Sure, a win is a win. But I hate to see a season end like that for any team. I am surrounded at work by Saints fans, and we ended the work week with a lot of friendly trash talking, but I don't have the heart to gloat today. I think so many years of gruesome Vikings-related disappointments have given me a sliver of compassion for anyone not named Packers or Cowboys.

BTW, I agree with your take on that missed tackle. He was definitely trying to take an angle to prevent the clock stopping. Right thought but the lousiest execution imaginable. They teach kids at the pee-wee level to keep their heads up and see the target.

Poor bastard. Joining Norwood and other notorious goats in sports history wasn't on his mind when he woke up yesterday. Now it's all he's going to be known for.

I didn't see anything "dirty" about that last play. Saints secondary simply blew it. They should have had their corners and safety back off and force a short pass and contain it. Not the Vikings fault the guy fell down. If you want to really point blame the Saints coach made a bad call. If they had created a buffer one missed tackle would not have mattered if the secondary had been in better coverage.

But I do agree, especially when it is your team that loses like that it sucks. Skins have ended games just like that too and lose. It happens to every team at some point over seasons and decades.

I didn't say there was anything dirty about the play -- only that I feel a bit dirty about crowing here in Saints-land over a missed tackle that the safety would otherwise make 999 times out of 1,000.

That said, I'm glad my team won and I hope they give Philadelphia hell next weekend.

Oh I'm not laughing at the Saints. I'm just still in elated disbelief that we won. I look at pictures and interviews of Drew Brees and he's just heartbroken.

My wife -- who doesn't really care about or understand the game -- couldn't take it that last half-minute. "This is too much; I'm out of here," she declared as she put one of our dogs on a leash and took her outside, leaving me to contemplate the dismal end to yet another playoff turkey by myself.

A couple of minutes later, she came bursting through the door in alarm at what she later described as the sound of a cat being strangled -- only to be told by her nearly disbelieving husband (the source of that inhuman sound) that she had missed the play of the year.

Yeah . . . 'elated disbelief'. That sums it up.

I cant laugh at them either. Year after year they still have done better than my Skins. I simply could not understand the play call on that play? 10 seconds left they should have spread out and backed off and contained the pass in the middle of the field.

I am rooting for Philly, not because I like them, they are in my division. Normally I would not root for them. But the guy who owns the website in my signature where I host my poetry thread is a HUGE Philly fan. I think maybe if Philly gets laid, meaning they win a Superbowl, their fans won't be so uptight. Been too a game in that city in the old Vet Stadium, pretty sad that even the new one they are in now has a MAGISTRATE JUDGE, that if you get out of hand and assault someone, they put you in front of a judge and set a court date for disorderly conduct or assault.

That playoff game I went to in Philly was back in the late 80s. Skins won but I didn't know if I would make it back to my car, that is how rowdy they were. To be fair though, some hockey cities, but even European and South American Soccer fans are even worse. ALL I CAN THINK IS DAMN IT IS ONLY A GAME!

I did pick the Vikings to win the Superbowl. But that was mostly based on the fact that Philly is on it's second string QB. So my brain is saying one thing, but my desire is saying another.
