Pillars of Eternity:
I get a small quest from a merchant company to discretely deliver some goods to a person on the other end of town. I do it, and then the people who have that part of the black market cornered show up, displeased, and want me to kill the merchant in retaliation. I say no, and they leave with a shrug, promising to kill him themselves.
I return to the merchant to get paid, and learn that the guy's an idiot, and his attempts to improve business have pissed off the locals (including the powerful family whose goons I just met), which was something his superiors repeatedly told him not to do. I tell him those goons are on their way to kill him now, and he freaks out, begging for mercy. The paladin(!) that was assigned to him essentially said "I have better things to do than drag your ass out of the fire for the nth time, so you're on your own."
I decided to employ the Batman choice on him. I wasn't going to kill him for his duplicity (I mean, he did send me into a trap), but I didn't feel obligated to save him. I let the goons kill him once he paid me.
I love how even the small fetch quests in this game have choices like that.
