I've been sitting at my desk, doing exercises because my right knee and foot are really bothering me this morning. I spent nearly three hours out in the back yard last night. (No sewing, but I got the freezer defrosted and yanked lots of nails, and got everywhere else I needed to be yesterday).
Tonight's forecast is for an hour or so of clarinet practice, maybe the sewing, but more likely a grocery run. There is a distinct lack of ice cream in the newly-cleaned freezer, and this is something up with which I will not put.

I was just putting my kid to bed and she told me that some kid's been talking to her at school about god.
She's worried that she won't get to see mummy or daddy ever again when we die and that we will go to hell.
So for the first time I've had to tell her that god is not real, just like ghosts and monsters.
This 'let them work it out for themselves' spiel is bullshit and I wish I'd told her sooner.
And I wonder how long she's been thinking about this, worried and all on her own.
I remember being worried myself as a kid that everyone would get the mark of the beast and if they didn't get it they'd have their head chopped off and I was facing that or hell.
It's got me fucking fuming and as much as I'm normally quite complacent towards x-tians on this forum, I'd just like to point out to any that are reading this that this is what your stupid, fucking, pathetic religion does to kids.
It's fucking brainwashing, pure and simple, and your fucking part of it.
Fucking child abuse and it's disgusting.

Our power went out earlier. Since then the lights in my bathroom haven't worked. Guess I get to shower in the dark for the next few days.

Went to the local Barnes and Noble to see what they had in the way of hardcover books I could use my 15% discount coupon on. I bought a copy of The Handmaid's Tale.
What's remarkable is that, around the same time I found it, I noticed something very unusual (well, unusual for me): for the past few years my sense of smell has been more or less dormant. However, a couple months ago, the doctor told me to start using an Allegra, and it's started to come back, although mostly it's less than pleasant smells I notice. But for the first time in fuck knows how long, I was drawn to something that smelled good. It was the cafe and the cookies they bake. I went to the checkout and got a receipt for the Handmaid's Tale (I also did not know I could double-dip my member discount with the coupon), which also included a BOGO coupon for the cookies. Severe heartburn be damned, I took advantage of it.
And, of course, I was kind of drowsy at the time, due to my having a hard time sleeping last night, partly due to an overactive bladder and partly due to a severe attack of heartburn that came around 1 AM and is just barely abating around now.

I just found this new game to play with my rainbow lorikeet where I move the marker on the screen and she tries to catch it.
She gets really cranky that she can't catch it, flapping her wings, hissing and squawking at it.
I just have to remember to put a magazine over the keyboard because all that frustration leads to her shitting all over the place.
