Corporal Punishment?

RE: Corporal Punishment?
I just think you are being ageist...

And you say that we don't understand the time you grew up in... I just think that perhaps you are stuck in the past and can't deal that things change... For better or worse.

It's always the younger generations fault, always has been. Which is funny, because the younger generation becomes the older generation sooner or later.

Einstein

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life.

I do not recall anyone laying blame on the younger generation. Specifically the fault is apathetic society through greedy government in which the needs of the people have long been forgotten and as it gets more and more out of hand, as it always does, it will eventually fix itself.

How many nations on the face of this earth have replaced the previous government? And how many of those replaced their predecessors? And so on. They are all doomed.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Obviously you missed the point.

Nah I think it's you who missing the point.

You said = "I imagine that it is mostly the younger posters that are against corporal punishment because, they never had the opportunity to observe first hand the effectiveness of corporal punishment."

I said =
"Your hypothesis of who voted what is based on nothing more than just that, your imagination. I reckon that the people who vote against it do so because there are other alternatives and they see no need for corporal punishment. Not because they are 'young'. Age doesn't really have anything to do with it IMO."

In a nutshell I was saying your reasoning for thinking that the people voted the way they did was a bit of bull. Just because I wasn't brought up in the same era as you doesn't necessarily mean I can't comprehend what corporal punishment is like. Also comprehending this is only one facet out of many which can influence the way people have voted in the poll. This is the point I was trying to make.
