Obviously, their statements about conflicts they've had with me are one-sided. I'm not going to rehash those arguments or even defend myself from their criticisms. However, I will say that anyone who wants to come here and give it a try will not be met with the sort of problems they've described. They can come try the place out for themselves. If not, I hope they find another place to talk with like-minded people and debate with theists. We may not be cautious of people's feelings around here, but we too are a community of friends and loved ones. We know what it's like to love a forum, as strange as that may seem.
You don't have anything to apologize for. If former members here decided to rage quit because they got butt hurt and couldn't handle it, then that's on them. One of those individuals hurt a lot of people, myself included. I didn't see that as a reason to quit the forum all together. Sometimes breaks are needed from a lot of different things and mature people know when to take those breaks but it shows a lot of childishness when two people go out of their way to try and sway others from coming here simply because their feelings got hurt. They both can go fuck off.
Shell - you are a valuable member here. I appreciate your views. I have gotten to know you and Tibs personally. You stand your ground on issues you're passionate about and you take flack as well as give it. You have a spine and know how to use it. For that, I admire you so very much. I can't wait to see the new house if you'll have me back
Never forget that you don't need to apologize for the misunderstandings of others. Stay true to you and let them work through their bullshit.

No problem, this is what TTA looked like:

I had a couple of attempted posts not show so I think too little text with a link tripped the filter... they can be flushed since I tried again and added more text. Nice to know it isn't a permanent issue.
ETA: I don't think I'll ever get used to the way this board merges consecutive posts into one... that's kind of annoying

There's enough to give you whiplash if you watch real-time. All the significant stuff was in there, plus a plethora of opinions and funny stuff. I've always wished for history books that are just collections of comments and opinions, hopes and fears of the actual common folk living through the events. You know, to get a real feel of the times. It's a huge, long thread and no one has the time to save it, I know I don't.
I was at TTA for 6 years, I joined soon after hubby died. It helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. I will be forever grateful to everyone who was there.
So it's time for a new start again? I am getting too old for that shit, but I'll give it a shot.
I joined not long after you. I joined when my transgender daughter came out to me and my other daughter's boyfriend's family, who were over the top evangelicals, were causing enormous havoc in my life. I was at a loss and had no one to talk to. Then I stumbled onto TTA and the rest is history. All that upheavel is past so now I'm here because it's fun and I like the company. I usually get along with people and I think it comes from being the youngest in a large, very poor family. I learned very early how to get along with others and be a little easy going.
.........except when it comes to trumpladites. Grrrrrrrr. I'm not easy going then. Fuck em!

Yep, when hubby died all the religious came out of the woodwork driving me up the wall... I needed a place to rant! The last thing I needed to hear then was religious platitudes. TTA was the first time I had actually socialized with fellow atheists. Up to then I had just gone through life without belief and somehow surrounded myself with people who just didn't talk about religion. It was great to see so many people openly talking about not believing.
