Indeed.

Anyone who hasn't yet - download the high resolution version. Zoom in really, really close, and see how dense the cluster is near the center. Now, contemplate the fact that there are many, many more stars in the empty spaces that are too dim and cool to be detected.

For a real treat, take a look at one of our galactic globular clusters through a decent-sized amateur telescope. The larger the better, but even through a 8-10" instrument, they are a wonder to behold.

One of these days soon I'm gonna hit up my great uncle in Louisville and see if I can't sweet-talk Oro into letting me take a few peeps through some of the ones he uses.

I saw the milky way naked-eye for the first time, it was a clear night and no light pollution nearby. To see it, and understand a little bit of what it is, its just beatifull.

Meh, I have to save for a nice telescope.

Zen did the same thing not so long ago @ Koorda. From the Southern Hemisphere it is wondrous.

The stars and I are old friends...spent the last 20 years just watching them. Big Grin
