There are no "Religions of peace".....

There are no "Religions of peace".....
Before anyone jumps on me, this isn't an attack on one single religion. Islam did not invent violence against others. Our species has always had competing groups worldwide who have gotten violent with each other.

There is no magical power to a belief. There also can be others whom hold the same core characters and holy writings to be true, but come to different conclusions to either justify empathy or compassion, or others use those same characters and writings to justify violence and call it self defense which is really fear of outsiders. That has been the case worldwide and not just monotheism, but worldwide.

There have been and always will be well intended peaceful non violent individuals worldwide in every religion. But that is not the religion itself doing it. That is our species inherent evolutionary ability to show compassion and empathy. If any one religion, or sub sect of, were a cure to stop violence, war and crime, one should expect to see a universal model the entire species could follow. But the truth is there is no nation in the world, friend or foe, that does not have hospitals or prisons.

I will always constantly remind everyone reading posts like this, I do think most humans are good, or at least want to do good and be non violent. I merely object to where my fellow humans think that ability is coming from. I say it is not in the writings of antiquity, but in the individual themselves, in our species evolution.

There are good people like Malala, but unfortunately there are evil people like Bin Laden. There are good people like Martin Luther King Jr and others unfortunately who murder people like him in the name of defending white Christianity. Some would argue the Dali Lama as being a non violent person, but you also have Buddhists in Myanmar murdering Muslims.

And even with atheists. It is absolutely true that Stalin was an atheist. But he also convinced a nation of Russian Orthodox Christians to put him in power. I have absolutely nothing in common with that monster.

Point is, and will always be, our actions as individuals, not old writings, not old mythology, not even the labels we assign ourselves have any real magic power to make the individual only do good, or always do bad. I know empathy when I see it. I know cruelty when I see it, and those things are not the result of anything divine being handed down to humanity.

I dunno. Proud and freedom loving men rape and provoke to suicide or kill weak people in prisons. That's a pure animal planet for you. Religious people at least expect heaven and don't do that kind of mindbreaking shit in such quantities. Making weak men go sell their ass for cigarettes or knocking them out to rape them, that's something special.

At this point I feel like working myself to death to help relaties and find peace is a gift.

Humans are just fucking awful creatures, no matter what order they align themselves with.

No, I would not say all. I would only say that unfortunately evolution does not care what wins. Humans are simply capable of BOTH compassion and cruelty.

It is still up to us what we choose in our interactions with our fellow humans.

There is lots about my fellow humans that we do that makes me angry, and can be quite scary. But in my 52 years I have also seen, not only historical figures, but even in my personal life, great acts of kindness too.

My only dispute with my fellow humans who follow any religion, is where they think our species behaviors are coming from.

There are indeed 'religions of peace', several of which spring to mind. You're an idiot.

More like, evolution is messy, and not a utopia.

I also don't like seeing clips of lions eating other baby animals. But I do like my cat who loves me, but also know if I were to bring in another cat today, he'd flip out in jealousy.

Humans are not special to our planet or the universe, but certainly individuals like Martin Luther King Jr, Malala and Ann Frank display the good humans can be capable of when they choose.

A lioness killing to survive, is quite different than killing because of irreconcilable differences between imaginary magic sky daddies, or because of differing melanin skin content.

Humans are "intelligent", they should know better. The simple fact that they purposely choose not to, proves just how awful they are.

No there is not.

And we can debate this here and now.

You cannot name one single religion in the world that has never had conflict between sub sects and or other religions.

Do not confuse "seemingly peaceful" now, as "will always be peaceful". Give any group in human history enough power, every group can potentially become big enough to dominate, subjugate and or get violent.

Now again, this isn't  saying one can or should force the end of any religion, as if one could. All I am pointing out is that we are the same species and always have been, and always will be, and that will always include, as it has in the past, our species ability to be either cruel or compassionate.

Times change over long periods so you cannot pin human behaviors to a label.

Our behaviors as a species are in our evolution, not religion. People certainly can and do chalk it up to those things, sure. But that is now where our good or bad behaviors are really coming from.

If one can do good without being a Muslim, or being a Muslim, and if one can do good without being a Christian, or being a Christian, and one can do good without being a Jew, or being a Jew, and one can do good without being a Buddhist or being a Buddhist, and one can do good without being an atheist, or being an atheist, that says to me all humans have the same common traits that exist beyond our respective positions.

If you want to claim humans refrain from doing bad or advocate peace and point to their club, sure. I agree with that, but that still does not change all 7 billion of us are the same species. And as individuals we have as a species displayed both cruelty and compassion. And were doing so long before  any written religion or nation borders.
