I like Japanese and have studied it in my 'school years'... I "pick - up" words and phrases and like you my vocabulary is expanding but not enough to hold a conversation, so iie..I do not "speak Japanese". I love Ghiblli Studios and of course grew up with anime I think "Astroboy" is the first I can remember.
