Anyone Else in America See Your Taxes Go Up?
April 6, 2019 at 5:15 pm
OK, anyone else in America get sticker shock when you completed your yearly taxes?
I found that for every $1 I normally get in a tax refund has this year turned into twice that much that I now owe the government.
I'm sure it's all for the worthy cause of giving tax relief to the billionaires.
Thanks Trump.

I'm not in the US, so I just go by what I hear... And I hear that the tax retention is lower this year. This means that you get less refunded and, possibly, have to pay some...
At the same time, you should have gotten some raise that makes up for it... But that's not how employers do things usually.

Not American, but I hope I'll end up paying a few more taxes soon.
Had an interview for a promotion yesterday. if it went well, I'll be moving up the ladder and getting a c€4k pay rise soon.
But yeah, the fake tax breaks ye lads got are really shitty.

Of course, I still have to file a tax return for both Washington and Illinois. And, for whatever reason, it took four times for the Illinois one to go through, because it needed a perfect match with my drivers license, because apparently, there would seem there could be a mixup between, for instance, John Q. Public and John Quentin Public, or the John Q. Public that weighs 205 lbs or the John Q. Public that weighs 220. And, just to be clear, in this scenario, they would all have the same address, birth date, and license number. Leck mich am Asche, isn’t the entire fucking point of license numbers on IDs so they can tell exactly which person it belongs to when they cross-reference it?

We, along with most Americans, got a tax break this year. Last year our effective tax rate was 11.98%. This year it was 10.63%. Our effective federal income tax rate fell 11.22% despite the fact that our adjusted gross income was up 8.59%. Yes, some people saw their rates go up due to a realignment of the tax brackets, but most of us paid lower tax rates this year than we did last year.
I suspect that those of you that are getting back less or paying more at the end of the year took home more with each paycheck than you did last year.
