Equal pay for women's soccer or no Fed funding bill

Equal pay for women's soccer or no Fed funding bill
"A new bill would withhold all federal funding from the 2026 Women’s World Cup co-hosted in the U.S. unless equal pay is instituted for men’s and women’s soccer teams.............The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The U.S. has currently selected 17 possible stadiums across the country, which will be narrowed down to 10 stadiums by the time of the actual competition."

Where I used to work, if something went to shit, the pendulum for whatever the problem's solution was would clang in the other direction. I called it a knee-jerk overreaction, in front of management.

It would be precisely what one would do if one wanted to kill the sport of women's soccer. The law of supply and demand is brutal. There is simply not enough money being made by women's soccer teams to pay them the same. The industry is not sexist, the fans are Smile

Personally, I don't care about either mens or womens soccer teams.

I find it weird how Congress wants to get involved in sports. Meanwhile, they refuse to touch our fragile infrastructure.

They keep winning. Some of the money generated by men’s soccer should go to paying the women fairly.

Hard to disagree with that.  Especially since the US women's team have won four World Cups and the men have won...wait, let me do the math...*mumble mumble*...carry the 2...divide by Planck's constant...

NONE! They've won exactly NONE!  It is perfectly shameful that the most successful footballers on the planet are paid a pitiable fraction of what their male counterparts are paid.  And the revenue argument is disproved - the US women's team have generated MORE revenue than the men's team from 2016 through 2018.

I have no problem with "fairly" but that may be hard to define. I do agree that they need better pay and support.

Can't read the article without a subscription. I'd be happy to read another source.

(two/three years of revenue difference disproves an argument/financial position?)

Megan Rapinoe should run for president.  After what you lot have been through, a purple-haired lesbian would be a breath of fresh air.

Your boss tells you that you make less than Jim because Jim closes more sales than you do.  For the last two to three years, you have been closing more sales than Jim.  Where is your boss's justification for continuing to pay you less?

Can’t she just bleach her hair?

First Cheetos color hair, now purple hair, What’s with the reddish hue?

Uhhhh, time out.

How much revenue the US woman’s team generates has nothing to do with how much they deserve to get paid.

If it did, then we would be living in a satanically fair and just world where every one roast in the fire of socialism,  rather than in as we are the heavenly capitalistic world where the happy hoi polloi always have so many choices in how to scrabble for make belief roses and honey amidst the shrinking pools of foamy yellow piss that the on-high who inherited their wealth so kindly allowed to trickle down, wouldn’t we now.

They deserved to get paid exactly as much as what it would take to keep them from walking away to more profitable professional opportunities.

Which is?
