If enough morons are stooping, it doesn't matter whether or not you're stooping too. Academic question for you, really, since you've already swallowed the morons propaganda whole.

Nope; what makes me doubt any story coming from American military/intelligence is that America -just like so many nations- use "lies" to cover up its real motives.
That's an innate capacity to protect a nation's interests; but the U.S took it too far and even began to bomb people and cover it with total lies (like the WMDs lie that caused the U.S invasion to Iraq in 2003).
