Finally got round to 'Bates Motel' (alternate title: 'How NOT To Parent') and I really liked it. It's a very well done backstory of how Norman Bates became Norman Bates, not that he was too tightly wrapped to begin with.
It doesn't really address the events of the novel until the last few episodes, and even then it takes a pretty free hand with them - but that's OK. It was never meant to be a new version of Bloch's book or Hitchcock's film, but more of a look at the Norma/Norman relationship in all its cringe-y creepiness. Plenty of interesting new characters flesh out the expansion of the story, such as Norman's cousin/brother (who is also Norma's nephew/son), a really cool sheriff who has doubts about Norman from the very beginning, and so on. There's also an all-too brief appearance by Rihanna (yum) as Marion Crane. Highly recommend it. Boru

Been watching Teen Wolf, finally decided to get in on that lycanthropy action. Plus, the really hot guys.
I rarely watch tv, but today I watched Grand Design New Zealand and found it to be an excellent show, almost as good as the English version and better than the Australian version.
I also watched Gardening Australia which had a very informative episode on Peonies. Didn't know you were into peonies... Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"

It's very pretty.
Peony envy?

Finished all six seasons of Teen Wolf. Yes, it was the first time I'd ever seen it. Powerful show, especially the ending.
Watched the third and last season of Dark. I personally think they did a great job, as well, with tying everything together. Now I'm watching the second season of The Order.
Been watching The Politician, yet another show created by Ryan Murphy (I swear, as many shows as he has created and currently has on his plate, the man sold his soul to the devil)
Quote:Payton Hobart, a student from Santa Barbara, has known since age seven that he's going to be President of the United States. But first he'll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School.
As a huge fan of Kate Beckinsale, I am now going to watch The Widow
Quote:A woman's search to uncover the mysterious disappearance of her husband leads her to the Congo, where she's forced to seek the truth about what happened to the man she loved. |
