That the last person to receive a civil war pension from the US government died a bit less than Two months ago. And 33 spouses and 18 children of Spanish-American War vets are still earning pensions from the war.

Watermelon rinds are edible. A member on Atheist Discussions said that he was making pickled watermelon rinds. He posted a picture of his canning jars containing cubed rinds in homemade brine. He didn't specify whether it was sweet or sour brine, but they look good.
