Being Polish is a disease, so almost.

They certainly can be stupid. Here's a good example. A guy came up to my son (where he works) complaining that the faucets in the men's room don't work, and he needed some hand sanitizer,
because he had to rinse the soap off his hands in a toilet (the bowl, not the tank).
The faucets are motion-activated. He's had to have seen something like that before in his life, or he could have asked.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Whichever country is next door.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Oh that's definitely typical European arrogance. We'd rather make a fool out of ourselves than admit we don't know something, and simply ask for some piece of knowledge - this is especially true for asking for directions. GPS and map data has been an incomparable blessing for Europeans.

Looks like stupid and easily conned may be two different things.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

To your point, I think humans are stupid. This is not a uniquely American trait. Unfortunately, stupid is a large part of our culture.

Stupid or ignorant? But I agree, you can certainly get by in the US being either one.

being stupid is not uniquely american.
But inculcating the sense amongst the stupid that being born American entitled them to judge the work of scientists and other people of Relevant intellectual attainment according whatever dim lights had been lit by the unscrupulous the in the what passes for their brain is what made america, not Americans, somewhat unique in stupidity, at least amongst countries with any tradition of scientific attainment.
