Aristocatt - it is unknown why the woman thought he'd stolen her phone - maybe he passed right by where she was sitting 5 seconds before she realised her phone was gone, she put two and two together and got 5. As with George Ffloyd - no actual proof of racism - maybe for sure he coulda been white looking and gotten exactly the same treatment from the woman, as far as I can tell. A little dumb, yes, but national headline news over a scratched hand?   ad nauseum - that's my perspective.

In red...this could be, with a bit more context, a totally reasonable explanation of the initial accusation(not everything that happened afterwards) on it's own.


Do you think that 13/50 statistics(you used 15/40 %s to express the crime statistics, but usually I see this represented as 13/50) alone(or at all) is a reasonable inference to use when deciding to accuse someone of stealing your phone? 
Also..."a little dumb"...do you think that it would be unreasonable for her to be charged with assault(or some crime in general) for tackling the boy?

What would qualify as evidence of racism for you?
Does systemic racism exist?  
Can we infer that people are racist based on their actions even if the have never out right said anything explicitly racist?

It was, PERIOD! If those same cops had tried to stop me, there is a higher probability I wouldn't have ended up on the ground, much less with a knee on my neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

Both the theatre shooter, and and Dillan Roof murdered several people and had weapons, and both of them made it to jail, and the cops even bought Roof a burger on the way back to the station. The call that lead to Floyd's death was an alleged fake bill. It is possible he didn't even know it was fake. But even if he knew, he had no weapon, and they had no right to murder him over that.

It is NOT handwringing or political correctness. America has a systemic inequality problem in policing. Blacks and other minorities are at far higher risk of injury or death when interacting with police than whites. Even if blacks make it to jail, they are on average charged more harshly and sentenced more harshly and fined more harshly than a white person who commits a similar crime.

I asked some questions earlier to try to figure out what would clarify what you would consider to be evidence of racism.  It isn't clear to me where you stand on the intent vs consequences divide.
