The unforgivable sin (long)

There are so many It will be difficult to list them all. I will list a few starting with the stupidist.

"Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit (HS) is to say something so bad that you hurt his feelings." (This leaves a sliding scale, open to interpretation, where the transition from not sin to sin is so gradual and subjective the line can be crossed at any time)

"Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit = to quench the spirit. " (To quench the spirit is again subjective and on a sliding scale. The dangers of which are mentioned above. Usually this is said to manipulate people into not criticizing or being skeptical about things they are witnessing)

"Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit = to die in your sins. (in other words to die before you acknowledge Jesus as your savior. Those under the age of 3 and the mentally disabled/developmentally disabled etc. are exempt from this. They can die safe, everyone else is fucked. The logic behind this interpretation is that dying before you acknowledge Jesus as your savior is, according you the Prod. religion, is what sends you to hell therefore it must be the interpretation of the scripture."

This is a paraphrase: Saying or accusing a miracle worker that their healing or healing power did not come from god but from the devil. (I don't need to shoot this one down. It's manipulation is obvious.)

This is another paraphrase: Becoming an Atheist. (That is to deny god. To consciously turn your back on him/her/it/vapor. Somehow former Atheists who have converted to Christianity are exempt from this.)

One more thing. Some people believe that when you turn your back on god and the holy spirit the holy spirit leaves you. Some believe that evidence that the holy spirit has left you is that you no longer speak in tongues.

I don't have time to cut and past some of the various interpretations expressed on this thread but they exist if you have the time to research it.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

For what it's worth, I've heard most of these as well - and while GC may or may not find them scripturally valid, those who used them certainly did.

I too have no idea what blaspheming the holy spirit actually means either. Not that it has any meaning to me, as I don't believe in any of it, I'd just like to make sure I'm doing it right.
