Yeah, here in California I had to register my .22 rifle so that I could get ammo for it, and either paid for a background check ($1 per each visit after a $19 first time) or get a real ID (which I did) to buy ammunition for it. I bought that rifle in '02 but when the system was legislated for electronic tracking,
nobody took all the paper forms and put them in the system. So, most legitimately purchased firearms are not in the database. Stupid of a high order. And all the paper I've killed!

1: Would reducing the number of cars on the road reduce car deaths. Yes it would. The same with uns. And in fact every time countries have restricted gun ownership gun deaths drop.
2: And reducing people willing to use guns access to guns would reduce their ability to use the guns they are willing to use. Fewer guns deaths would result.
3: You like your guns and are willing to accept any number of deaths so you can have them.
1. If it were true, then all countries should show a similar correlation between gun ownership and gun deaths. For example, New Zealand has about 1/5 the per capita gun ownership the US does, so we should have 1/5 the gun deaths (per capita). Instead, we have about 1/12 as many. It isn't guns, it's gun culture.
2. Right, because prohibition always works.
3. On the contrary. I despise guns, I think it's bloody silly to own them, and I won't have one in my house.

Indeed he is - blowing smoke up your ass.
Let's talk facts.
The "ghost gun" is one described as having no serial numbers making it "impossible to track".
Really. How are you going to "track" a gun by serial number?
.....
You cannot tell the guns I have by serial number. Some have serial numbers - some don't. But you have no way at all to "track" how many guns I have.
Stone fucking fact.
Here's what you don't know -- The Federal Government HAS NO LIST OF GUNS - OR WHO OWNS THEM. (Some states do have records of pistols - and Commiefornia requires registration of some rifles)
Fact. Period. end of statement.
"But... but... but... " You say - "They got the serial numbers when you bought the gun".
Nope. They didn't. FACT. When a 4474 is filled out - it is NOT given to the government. Ditto the NICS check. When they make a NICS check - they do NOT give the serial number - or even the make or model of the weapon. They only give "pistol or long gun".
And here's the kicker -- the records the gun shop make - the 4473 and the Bound Book Ledger (which lists all sales) is only kept for 20 years -- and then they are destroyed.
......
So exactly what does "Getting rid of Ghost Guns" do for you???
....
It gives you the illusion that the government "did something" about gun violence....
THE ONLY way to track a gun - is to take it off a perpetrator and go to the manufacturer - and find out what FFL dealer it was sold to -- then you can go get to that dealer (if it was less than 20 years ago) and see who the gun was first sold to. But then - who gives a shit? YOU ALREADY HAVE THE PERP....
Conclusion -- this legislation is a solution in search of a problem.
^^^^^^^ Distract and deflect.
How does any of what you just typed have to do with the volumes of firearms sold and the volume of firearm deaths per year?
If more firearms meant less violence then why are we #1 among western allies in firearm deaths?
Because 67% of 'gun violence' in the US is from suicide. In other countries where guns are less common people find other ways to off themselves. The real question is whether eliminating guns reduces overall violence. My understanding is it does't. I am open to be shown otherwise.

One guy cited in the article registered his soldering gun. "Step closer eh? I can't burn you from here!"
