He cooked since we were in lockdown.

I took beer and dessert (chocolate Bavarian).

Dinner was had.

Melting. Early summer around here is usually in the upper 70s to lower 80s, today it was 112, tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. It's almost 1am and I'm thinking about camping out in the yard.

Melting.  Early summer around here is usually in the upper 70s to lower 80s, today it was 112, tomorrow is supposed to be hotter.  It's almost 1am and I'm thinking about camping out in the yard.

And you left Mexico for the summer for the "cooler" temps of the PNW. IIRC, it was hot as hell there last year too. At least hotter than you all usually experience.

This global warming "conspiracy" has meant North Texas is much more humid than it was when we moved here in 2006.

So, I use a media streamer to play music from my collection of MP3s. Unfortunately, the one I've been using (a Sandisk Media Drive) appears to have gone totally bust. I plug it in and nothing happens. No light, no streaming, no nothing. I have two media streamers that "work", but they've been in retirement since a recent iOS update (14.2, I think) rendered them all but useless. The Verbatim Mediashare, well, all I need to do is pick a song and the app crashes. When it turned out that the MediaShare didn't work, we found the Rav FileHub Plus. That one barely worked any better. Fortunately, it has improved a bit, but it's still pretty buggy.

So, what I need is something that can:

• play 64 gig SD cards with MP3 files
  
• Stream them to my iPhone
  
• Do so with a minimum of crashing.
  

Somehow, I'm finding bugger-all in that category. Why is this so hard? Am I doing something wrong? And before you say "just use Spotify" or something like that, I need something that isn't going to be dependent on another person's WiFi. I use my streamer when going out, and a lot of the time, I'll either be in the car or in somebody else's establishment and they might not have WiFi readily accessible. Hell, WiFi in my own home craps out fairly regularly. I DO NOT want to be at the mercy of someone else's WiFi.

Update! It apparently is able to charge, but the catch is it can only do so on a certain number of cables. And by “a certain number”, I mean I’ve only found one that works so far.

Holy crap - we get there sometimes with the heat index but not mean temperature. But then, I'm in TX, you are damn near in Canada.

13 hour battery life, costs a reasonable $140 (not counting SD cards), memory expandable to potentially one terabyte (to contain my entire music collection, which is currently at close to a quarter terabyte of mostly 128kb MP3s), wired earbud compliance, and no need to be at the mercy of either external wifi or an app Apple may or may not be fucking with?

Yeah I don't know what the heat index is going to hit - it's 23% relative humidity so it's fairly dry
