Right, but between a layperson, and state or federal government, please tell me why this past winter several middle American states such as Texas and Oklahoma froze their asses off? For the same reason California has a problem with wild fires. It isn't enough to dump survival up on the individual. There is no point in any government in the world, if it is all about the sake of power.

Even today, I have been shocked at the record highs in places like Montana and North Dakota.

I hate to steal your favourite line, but that’s not the point.

The government can hardly be held responsible for the weather. Even with the best of intentions, there are going to be power outages, item shortages at local markets, and so on. Don’t you think it makes sense to be prepared for these things? You live in an hurricane susceptible to hurricanes. Don’t you stock up on things like water and non-perishable food when one is on the way?

My son invited me to join the FB page for our town recently. It's not an official page and is sort of like not being able to look away from a train wreck. It's unintentionally pretty funny.

One day last week people started posting wanting to know who else's power was out and in what part of town. Some guy came on and said that Biden was the cause of the power outages, that it's a way to push the "Climate Change Agenda of the liberals." I suppose the badass thunderstorm that had just rolled through had nothing to do with the power outages or Biden had sent the storm to cause the outages to little ole Wylie to upset the conservatives. smh - people endlessly prove how damn stupid they are.

If you don' t like the idea of being prepared that' s fine.

If you have to go without because you chose that path - that' s YOUR problem. Don't expect Joe Biden or Donald Trump to show up on your doorstep with groceries.

.....

Disasters don' t have to be by earthquake, flood or tornado. It can be as simple as you losing your job. Or getting sick and finding out your insurance company really doesn' t put your welfare as their top priority. (Hint - they put toenail fungus at a higher priority than you).

There is nothing more pathetic than a person who is capable but refused to look out for their own welfare.

If you plan properly - it really doesn't cost you anything - and frequently SAVES you money. (Buy stuff when prices and demand are low - not when stuff is scarce and pricey)

But if sticking your head in the sand makes you feel better - have at it.

I am not hoarding anything because if something bad happens I'll just borrow stuff from onlinebiker with a promise to repay him back later.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

You would be surprised how much stuff we donated to friends and neighbors during the Covid lockdown....

Most of them were quite good with repayment.

And they learned.....
