RE: One Hit.
Actually BJ was from Mill Valley. Can't say I have heard a song about that town.

You got the character name right. But the episode where he first arrives to replace Trapper he divulges his prior history before being called to the war. Ultimately what I am looking for is the city/town north of gold and bridges. It is a very hard name to pronounce. It took me forever to pronounce it correctly.

BJ was from the northern West Coast, where do you draw the line? California takes up a gigantic portion of that coast.

Captain B.J. Hunnicutt (played by Mike Farrell) is a fictional character in the TV show M*A*S*H, which ran from 1972-1983 on CBS.

Hunnicutt resided in Mill Valley, California before he was recruited to join the US Army to fight in the War. He was educated at Stanford University and was a member of the Tau Phi Epsilon fraternity. B.J. is married to Peg (who writes scores of letters to him while he is in Korea). The couple has a daughter, named Erin.

Captain Hunnicutt first appeared on the show in 1975, after Trapper John McIntyre was allowed to return home from the 4077.

Mill Valley is where he lived, but not where he did his residency. People do commute to work.

If you want the answer, then I have to post the video. I've posted it before.

One more hint, one can still buy vehicles  that run on gas alternatives that are still fossil fuels. Guess the name of the fuel you can get the name of the band and the 1980s one hit wonder I am looking for. And isn't this thread about 1 hits?

‘Sausalito Summernight’ by Diesel. But you didn’t ask for the song or the band until just now - all you asked for was the name of the character.

Can we stop now?
