Noteworthy News
RE: Noteworthy News
Was just reading an article in the news  on Web3.  Can't get quite get my head around it. The claim is that web3 is the internet of the future. I'm aware how quickly new tech ideas can take off.   This apparently utilises public blockchains on a massive scale. (and no, I don't have clear idea of blockchains)

Be most interested in the opinions of anyone who has a bit of a grasp of the concept. I love the notion of the end of platforms such as Google, Facebook et al. Can't help wonder about security. Probably just my ignorance.

Web3, also known as Web 3.0,[1] is an idea for a version of the Internet that is decentralized and based on public blockchains.[2] The concept gained popularity in 2020 and 2021 with interest from cryptocurrency enthusiasts and investments from high-profile technologists and companies.[2]

RE: Noteworthy News
I doubt anyone has a clear idea of blockchains except maybe the people who make them. I can remember taking a Business 101 class where our final project was making a presentation about a business. I remember my group did a nightclub, and while most of the others have been forgotten in the intervening years, I at least remembered them being fairly straightforward. One group did something about blockchains, and I can remember the teacher repeatedly asking them what their business even was and seeing him start to legitimately lose patience (and he was one of the most chill teachers I've ever had) because all they had was jargon that, if I'm being generous, made no sense to anyone outside the group. If I'm not being generous, I'd say it didn't even make sense to anyone within the group.

The war between boomers and millennials continues

Quote:Ridley Scott blames millenials for The Last Duel’s box office performance: “What it boils down to [are] the audiences who were brought up on cell phones. The millennian, [who] do not ever want to be taught anything unless you told it on the cell phone.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

There, there, Ridley. It'll be ok. You just fill out and submit this form and we'll see what we can do.
