Hello, and welcome aboard!

Until my forties I would have considered myself a lapsed catholic, but I decided to educate myself about other viewpoints, and have gone from being (briefly) an agnostic to being an atheist. I officially defected from the Roman Catholic church a couple of years ago. I have a lot more reading to do to continue learning about science and how to argue effectively against religion.

I am now fifty one years old, happily married to a lapsed Catholic, with two atheist daughters, one sixteen year old and one twenty year old. We have some very interesting and at times quite heated debates in our house.

Hi Aine and welcome to AF! ^_^

Did you know that 'aine' means 'substance' in Finnish? Big Grin
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
