You can't the former without the latter; first things first, I suppose. P.S. I saw Anomalocaris' post after my reply, but, I don't want this thread just to be about surviving the initial blast, and so, point taken.
As a DC resident, I look forward to being instantly vaporized in the event of a nuclear war.

There's a bigger chance that people will die in the radiation/fallout zone than blast zone. Just sayin. https://remm.hhs.gov/zones_nucleardetonation.htm

Having watched the film Threads I would rather die than survive any kind of MAD event. Also, why did OP deduce it appropriate to combine the "serious" tag with an "unthinkable" hypothetical scenario? Eg: "Serious" - "Ermintrude the cow from The Magic Roundabout might kill your mother with a machine gun."

I’ve looked into the facts of nuclear war. The one thing that’s become obvious: try to die before everyone else. To do otherwise will only increase your suffering.
Have you ever watched Threads? If you remember The Day After, picture a version that’s from Britain, is even bleaker, and pretty much all the horrible things that occur are what scientists legit expect will happen after the bomb drops. If you dare to watch it, it’s on Tubi for free.

I was born with the gift of laughter and a sense the world is mad. (February 26, 2022 at 1:21 am)Rev. Rye Wrote: I’ve looked into the facts of nuclear war. I saw The Day After when it premiered on national television while at home; I broke down and openly wept. The next day my chemistry teacher was giddy, describing how "cool" the graphics were, presumably, of human beings being vaporized. I have not seen the movie since.
I am old enough to remember the drills where we hid under our desks to protect ourselves nuclear blasts. Seemed silly to me, even as a little kid.
When 9/11 happened I lived in a place that was surrounded by military bases so was a little tense to see what was next as the pentagon was hit as well as other downed planes. I just can't spend what little time I likely have left stressing over being blown up and I am certainly not in physical shape to go into post-apocalypse survival mode. |
