Nemo sicut deus debet esse! “No matter what men think, abortion is a fact of life. Women have always had them; they always have and they always will. Are they going to have good ones or bad ones? Will the good ones be reserved for the rich, while the poor women go to quacks?” –SHIRLEY CHISHOLM
LOUISIANA SENATOR BILL CASSIDY: OUR MATERNAL DEATH RATES ARE ONLY BAD IF YOU COUNT BLACK WOMEN
As conservatives across the country wage war on reproductive rights, demanding by law that women be forced to carry any pregnancy to term, regardless of the circumstances, they frequently (slash always) like to forget that they do absolutely nothing to support these people during said pregnancies or after. Mississippi, for example, where abortion will immediately become illegal if Roe v. Wade is overturned, has the highest rate of child poverty in the country and recently rejected a bid to extend postpartum Medicaid coverage. And in Louisiana, which has a similar trigger law that will go into effect upon Roe being reversed, maternal mortality rates are among the worst in the nation. But according to GOP senator Bill Cassidy, the rate at which women die during pregnancy or shortly after is not as bad as it seems—if you subtract the deaths of Black women, which apparently don’t count. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/05/...lity-rates
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) complained over the weekend that white supremacists were under attack after a racist was accused of a mass shooting in a Black Buffalo neighborhood.
Greene then pointed to two Black men who were accused of attacking white people. "So white supremacy shouldn't be the main target," the lawmaker added. "We should be more concerned about the illegal invasion at the border, the crime happening every single day on our streets, especially in cities like Chicago." https://www.rawstory.com/marjorie-taylor...remacists/

Yeah, not all GOP.
Wednesday, the 60-year-old Omaha woman was indicted on eight counts of wire fraud and one count of bank fraud in connection with allegations that she misused at least $202,000 of the $464,000 in grant money intended for her central-Omaha training facility. Banks is the longtime director of the nonprofit Cross Training Center, 5030 N. 72nd St., which specializes in ready-to-work programs for former incarcerated people or the impoverished or adults who have struggled with addiction. A federal grand jury, guided by prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Nebraska, alleged that Banks altered the checks with correction fluid and made them look as if they had been used for legitimate purposes under terms of grants that she had received from governmental agencies, including the federal Paycheck Protection Program. Those PPP loans were designed as a bridge to help organizations stay running during the COVID-19 pandemic. https://norfolkdailynews.com/state/nebra...c6a61.html
