Yet Another GOP Dumpster Fire Of A Human Being

RE: Yet Another GOP Dumpster Fire Of A Human Being
I'd rather pay now than wait to deal with the mental, developmental, and physical issues that could be lifelong for kids who are suffering malnutrition.

This isn't only about right now, it's about the long-term effects.

Ok... Seeing nobody wants to answer my question - I will answer it myself - from CNN

The emergency funding would be used to increase the number of FDA inspection staff, provide resources for personnel working on formula issues, help the agency stop fraudulent baby formula from entering the US marketplace, and improve data collection on the formula market, according to a release from the House Appropriations Committee.

OK... so the solution to a shortage caused by the government - is more government........

What could possibly go wrong?

....

( except it does not provide 1 more bottle of formula today - so doing nothing at all to fix today' s problem.....)

Oh - and it' s a chance to make the Republicans look bad - bonus, huh???

But I am also not getting an answer to my question.

What will the 28 million ( an oddly specific sum) dollars be spent on?

What formula that is being manufactured is being bought up as fast as it is being produced - at inflated prices. There is no manufacturer induced supply side restriction. The supply side restriction was by the government - forcing a recall of formula. (We will assume it was a good recall - there is no point sidetracking on that tangent).

So how will 28 million be spent? You can' t "just buy more formula" .  There isn' t any more to buy.

You COULD loan the money to start up production facilities - but 28 million wouldn' t get much of a plant and it would be well over a year or two in building.

So please tell me what has this 28 million price tag that will solve the problem? I hate buying sight- unseen...

The $28 million is to speed up inspections at non-US plants (more inspectors, streamlined paperwork, etc) in order to get the formula to US store shelves more quickly. You could have answered this question yourself by googling ‘baby formula bill’ and actually reading the intent of the proposed legislation.

It’s not intended to ‘solve the problem’. It’s intended as a stopgap measure to address an emergency situation.

Yeah, that's it.

It's a ploy to make the Republicans look bad, because they don't do a good enough job of that themselves.

In the meantime, I don't want to think about parents trying to keep their babies alive by diluting their formula. Call me liberal, but hungry babies seem to be a priority. Let me put a daisy in your gun barrel.

With the baby formula supply crisis as bad as it is, why is the Biden administration diverting even part of that supply to flies?

Might be important that you got this wrong in point of fact?  It was not the government, but private business and a plague, that caused the shortage....and it was a long time coming.  In truth, the government probably should have stepped in far sooner..as in years ago, but they didn't. Care to guess why that might be?

Quote:What could possibly go wrong?
This is exactly what can go wrong when lean supply chains based on questionable inputs meet a global pandemic.  This is exactly the sort of problem, and at the scale, where government would need to be involved. Granted, ofc, that a person believes that their government has any responsibility for the lives of their citizens whatsoever. Never a safe bet with you, I know.

It's not that you hate babies..though..probably, yeah. In this specific instance, the problem is that you're an ignorant fantasist who believes that while government is the solution to no problem, it is apparent cause of every problem.

Video of Lauren Boebert Repeating Replacement Theory Conspiracy Resurfaces

Republican Representative Lauren Boebert is espousing "replacement theory," a fringe belief cited by the man charged in the May 14 mass shooting in which 10 people were killed at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.

"Guess there is definitely a replacement theory that's going on right now," said Boebert in the video. "We are killing American jobs and bringing in illegal aliens from all over the world to replace them if Americans will not comply."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
