But then you miss all those delightful interactions with your fellow shoppers. You know - the guy who throws a world classy hissy because the store won’t accept a competitor’s 10c expired coupon or the woman who holds up the line while she sends hubby all the way back to the freezer section to swap the 400g box of broccoli florets for the 500g box. Watching baseball. They came and replaced my air conditioner today. I thought maybe I was misjudging the condition of the old unit, but the difference is night and day.

The dog days of summer have arrived on schedule here. It looks as though my A/C's will now be turned on continuously until the middle of August.

Going to see Classical Mystery Tour at Ravinia later today. Also worth noting, the power supply for my laptop appears to be on its last legs. It took some effort just to get the damn thing to register with my computer, and I noticed some buzzing sounds coming from the little box. Fortunately, a replacement is coming Tuesday, and it looks like in the interim, the one I have will work if I'm careful.

Just made a very difficult phone call to my mother. We haven't talked in almost 6 years. Her youngest sister died today on her (the sister's) 68th birthday. She was the baby of the family and we were only three years apart in age. I am not doing real great but I know the call was the right thing to do. The death is difficult but the call itself will have me off balance for a few days.
One of mom's other sisters called to let me know...she's the one I am close to and we had just talked a couple days ago. I knew something was wrong when she called as our calls are usually every few months or so. UGH |
