Kevin McCarthy loses 6th vote for Speaker
|
11 votes and still no progress.

The fucking idiocy of it.

If this horseshit keeps going on past January 13, Congress won’t be able to pay itself. And now, I wonder if this might actually end up being the thing that convinces the abstainers to actually do something. Especially with Biden not doing anything and my not finding any articles explaining any nuclear option he could potentially take.

Biden isn't the chump, making up some cockamamie shit that the 'pubs would go along with, just to own the 'dems.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I found a few cases where they've had more ballots than we've had so far, and while I don't know how 1820, 1821, and 1859-60 ended up getting decided, I did find out that the elections of 1849 and 1855-6 finally ended when they decided to change the rules up to accept a plurality of votes rather than a majority.

This isn't the first time they've had multiple votes for a Speaker. This isn't even close to the most repeats. That would go to Rep. Nathaniel Prentice Banks of the 34th congress which took 133 votes according to this article. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/longest-...d=96183135
If I had my way this Congress will never elect a speaker and would remain a universal butt of joke even in Timbuktu for the next 2 years.
If McCarthy had any pride at all, he would withdraw from the running.
It's obvious that even if they manage a winning vote, he isn't going to be someone that people want to work with. What a cluster. |
