Good thing you don’t have your way, then.

And, not a good idea to not have a functioning government who has nuclear weapons for too long:

Immaterial. Nuclear weapons are under control of the Executive branch, not the Legislative.

But, it's the Legislative branch that provides the defense funding. One could imagine a situation where the US government collapses because Congress is unable to go into session, martial law is declared, etc.

It's an extreme scenario, to be sure, but with someone like Trump having been in power, why risk it?? And, Biden, even though he is completely stable right now, what happens if he develops some neurological disease and starts to slip into the crazy side??

Scrolling through news stories earlier and saw where Mike Pence could actually be selected for speaker. Apparently, you don't have to be a member of the House to be the Speaker of the House.

This situation is an appropriate use of the term 'festering fucktangle'.

The last thing this Country needs is for Mike Pence to have a real job.

not a good thing.

I think the political process of this country will standing a much better (albeit still slight) chance of undergoing some substantive improvement in functionality if such a jarring fiasco were to come to pass, compared to any scenario of continuing pretenses of business as usual.
