Your conscious existence will last forever, your consciousness will always exist in some form or another. Your mind cannot fathom non-existence and so it simply won't happen.

I don't think this can be said with any real degree of certainty. I think it's possible that consciousness can transfer somewhere when you die. In Buddhism, the state of your mind upon death has "sculpted" your consciousness in such a way that, when you die, your piece of consciousness will be transferred to where it fits. And since what makes you "you" is entirely dependent on the circumstances of your life and your memories, "you" will die regardless of what your piece of consciousness is doing. That's an oversimplification, obviously.

There's no real proof for any of that though, so I think it's best just to let that be a hypothesis with no real evidence, and to simply not think much about dying or rebirth at all. Even the Buddha said that outright in one of the sutras when his student is freaking out thinking about his past lives or what he will eventually be reborn as. Buddha essentially says "Chill bro, it's a complex system you can't possibly know or have any real control over, just be compassionate towards others and focus on the present."

Not true at all. I've said and had a nautical fuckton of naughty words and impure thoughts and I'm still being cared for, by a God who loves me.

That's the nice thing about imaginary friends. They'll never desert you.

One of the best reasons to have imaginary friends.

RE: Is atheism foolish?
When my oldest was little she had an imaginary friend named Shala. Not sure where the name came from, but okay. She would play outside in her sandbox and carry on long conversations with Shala and would tell me of their adventures around the farm.

Suddenly she didn't need Shala anymore, I guess, and moved on. I have never been told what happened to her.

Some of us grow out of the need for imaginary friends....some hold onto them and defend them perhaps because they can't imagine a life without them.

I created and married mine. It seems better to have them than not have them. Just another thing to have in life.

I would be a monster if I kept you depressed for my own amusement but yet your god has you convinced that’s love.
