teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The buybull has to be one of the most baseless, inconsistent, illogical fables ever uttered.

Aesop's is pretty close, but I knew going in that it was fictional.
Fun-fact: Being exposed to Aesop's fables quickly led me to understand that the bible was the same damn thing, and nothing more.
Disappointing theists since 1968!

Mom read Aesop's fables to me when I was little. When I started Catechism classes I didn't see the stories as that much different. After moving to dad's hometown full of Catholics, one church, and all Catholic schools I was shocked to find out there were people who thought the Bible stories were real.
Growing up in college towns, prior to that move, and having parents who weren't religious and one who wasn't even Catholic did not prepare me for what I was going to be up against in Cathol-land.

My mom was to busy to read to us, but me and my little sis got this:
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Don't you just love it when a catholic priest puts his hands on you?
