Tesla is financially invested in China, has a lot to lose from complaining. Factories building not only cars but the batteries for them, and mining ops for the rare-earths, giving China more export leverage, yeah. It's understandable from his shitbag point-of-view that he should stay silent to safeguard the largesse. The Chinese government can take over its ops when it wants, and he knows it.

What I find weird is his sucking Putin's cock. There's so much less to gain there, but still Musk parrots the party line for Putin.

It might be that he is another right wing clown enamored with putin and Russia "traditional values".

... or that he leans authoritarian on general principles ... or that he need rare-earth metals ... or that he's a rich cunt who wants to run everything ... or that he needs to stay one step ahead of the stockholders ... or ...

Or that. My point is that economic incentives aren't needed for people to support dumb crap.

Musk is promising Mars again.

Quote:SpaceX's Starship megarocket will start flying Mars missions just two years from now, if all goes according to plan.

"These will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If those landings go well, then the first crewed flights to Mars will be in 4 years," SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk said via X on Saturday evening (Sept. 7), in a post that announced the bold new target timelines. (Earth and Mars align properly for interplanetary missions once every 26 months.)

"Flight rate will grow exponentially from there, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city in about 20 years," Musk added in the same post. "Being multiplanetary will vastly increase the probable lifespan of consciousness, as we will no longer have all our eggs, literally and metabolically, on one planet."

What kind of an idiot believes this?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

RE: Elon Musk
Musk has succeeded in the past by driving people hard with unrealistic deadlines and insufferable demands. Apparently he expects every technological obstacle to yield to this approach.

Musk is known for his unrealistic promises that he doesn't deliver (robotaxies, hyperloop to O’Hare, trips around the Moon by 2018, coast-to-coast autonomous driving, the candy company, Tesla cars with a 1,000-kilometer range, robot butlers, SpaceX Dragon will land on Mars), but his spaceship is simply useless for anything and I already posted a study some months ago about how it will never go to Mars.

We'll see if it can pick up the slack left by Boeing's failure.
