I'm adding PZ to the list. I have a list as long as my arm of assholes I still respect, admire, and find hilarious, but he has ceased to be one of them. His constant RW toe-sucking is utterly irritating, and "Gelatogate" was the last straw.

This latest escapade of theirs with "Rileygate" (or "Radfordgate," or "pinkgate" or whatever cutesy -gate you subscribe to) is so full of ridiculous I can't even breathe.

I've been becoming friends with Ben, and on a personal level he is an astoundingly sweet, respectful, funny, generous and kind-hearted man. As a skeptic I admired before I even stuck a toe into the skeptic community pool or got to know him, he is all of those things and more in his pursuit of the truth. That's not to say that he shouldn't be called out if wrong, but once again RW and PZ aren't calling someone out for being wrong - they're calling someone out for disagreeing with their particular ideologies, and looking like twats while doing it.

I've said it in a couple places, but if Ben made PZ embarrassed to be an "old white guy," then RW makes me embarrassed to have a vagina. (see PZ's blog, and then see Center for Inquiry for Ben's response to RW, which graced her with more respect than she deserved)

Richard Dawkins, I love because he might be a bigger asshole than me. I know what you mean about The God Delusion. It's not the best in comparison to other books on the subject, but his other books are compelling enough for me to value his opinion in general. I don't know much about his website. I bought a shirt from it once. I respect him all around, but I am a very relaxed and easy going person, and it's hard for someone to lose my respect when they have it. I really enjoyed his documentary television programs. I wish they would show them here in America.

Regarding Dawkins, I have much more respect for acommplished biologist venturing a opinion in philosophy, than an accomplished philosopher opening his mouth on anything, including on philosophy.

I've never heard of Watson..... probably travel in the wrong circles.

I joined the RD forums and in a day found it impossible to keep up with the traffic. Post something and two hours later it was buried 3 pages back.

That place was insane.
