In your opinion what causes Nessies to believe in Nessie?

In Scotland, there is a deep lake called Loch Ness. Some people believe that the loch contains a strange creature, known as the Loch Ness Monster. Many claim to have seen it, although no firm evidence of its existence has ever been presented. Believers in the monster are called "Nessies" and those who don't believe are called "Anessies".

They base their belief on the possibility that a single Plesiosaur is still around 66 million years after all the other ones went extinct.

The guy who had the submersible with the plesiosaur's head projecting out of the water copped to it decades ago, including showing the device to people. Also, no plesiosaur could live in such frigid water.

As for belief, people in general are stupid and will believe any number of stupid ideas. I've entertained a few, myself.

IIRC the Loch is far too young for the plesiosaur hypothesis to hold water, so to speak.

I remember believing in nessie. I liked dinosaurs, and like alot of people in the 30's...I didn't understand how easily a picture could be faked. On that note, the zuiyo-maru carcass was even more compelling, because I didn't understand motivated perception and confirmation bias.

Not important. Belief in Nessie is an article of faith - all one needs to do is entertain the possibility. Evidence is for suckers.

Then they tell you plesiosaurs are living all over the world.



Then they start telling you about the Lizard People running the shadow government behind the scenes.

And, before you know it, you're eating tofu, with a side of soylent green, and listening to ABBA!!
