Empathy is the best tool

RE: Empathy is the best tool
Empathy is for members of any social species. Even the felons have to use it if they want to be convincing con artists.

It's gonna get pretty dark awfully quick for the nuts if they ever manage to truly convince the rest of us that empathy is the problem with america today.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

We just elected a convicted rapist, felon and fraud who want to force Christianity upon the country. Where's the empathy in that? Nice guys finish last. People respond to strength, not empathy.

I don't see any utility in that. Even if it's true, the proper action is to change it, not to accept it.

Not a fan of the concept.

Which I suppose is a good tactic until you find a problem that legitimately isn't like yours.

I don't see that this bit matters much at all. I'm not terribly concerned if a believer is empathic because of Matthew 7:12, or an atheist is empathic because of Bentham's utilitarianism. I'll take empathy, no matter the source.

Frankly, these days, it seems like a divine command is probably far more of an impediment to empathy than anything else.
