Quote:ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - More than 100 sheriff's deputies in riot gear broke up an out-of-control crowd waiting outside a mall to buy a limited edition Nike basketball shoe.

Authorities say there were no injuries or arrests outside the Florida Mall late Thursday. The crowd began getting unruly as hundreds packed the parking lot, waiting to buy the $220, limited-edition shoe that was timed to be released during the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando.

Assholes.

Since they were all mindless consumers and staunch capitalists they were let go no charges no questions asked.

The 20 or so 99%ers off to the side were beaten with rubber hoses and sent to jail on trumped up charges.

They wouldnt care. The right wing majority of this country would find some fucked up excuse. they wouldnt even care if it was done under slave labor for slave wages...

All that matters is ME ME ME ME ME and RIGHT NOW!

I'd only be able to justify spending that amount on shoes if they made me fly, or become invisible.

RE: Sigh.........
$220 for a pair of of sneakers, which are made in some third world country for about $1? Context: my dopey ex-wife,Crune Punt, ( may her tits fall off) paid $120 in Honolulu for pair of 'Nike cross-trainers' in 1990. They were almost $200 here. For $100 I bought two spiffo Hawaiian shirts of sublime vulgarity.

I buy my sneakers at a factory outlet: Made locally,(seconds) black leather uppers, synthetic soles, they last 2 years of hard use.-----$20.

hehe, I was netting bait for crab boats when I bought them, but no. I work with hippies, intentional community organizers, and plants. It's sort of part of the uniform.
