Fashionably late to the party as usual. Wow, we've got a live one here.
Everything I would have said has already been expressed so I'll just add this. Any afterlife that included my loved ones, or indeed anyone, burning for all eternity while I sat around eating grapes and playing harps would be my idea of hell. If this person thinks that some people deserve such treatment for anything, let alone having beliefs that are different to his, we're not going to be friends. Which pleases me no end.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I say anyone who believes that this hell business is just or good, or that their benevolent god would engage in this business is the only kind of person who deserves it. Maybe it is a test after all.
