Uni Health Care

Is this really the case? Are you sure your fellow american's really come into this? To me it sounds like you just don't want any more of your money being taken to help those who need it. Toll booths on each road soon to follow...

Quote:it's unethical to tax people who work for their money to pay for people who can't afford insurance.
How is this unethical? The government has a job to do- it has to protect it's people's rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Quote:I do not want the government to run my health insurance. I don't like the government and I don't trust the American government and I sure do not want to "do business" with them.

Yeah that's always scary for me too. When I sit in the waiting room I have Gordon Brown waving at me with a surgeon's mask on... Thinking

Holy Shit storm...

I leave and this topic only had about 5 pages into it, and come back to this......lol...

dry land fish... I respect your honesty, just not your judgment and literal way of thinking.

I spent a very long time in El Salvador and Honduras (Just to mention a couple)...and I have heard many people in high places say almost exactly what you have stated on here..It's the mentality of, "You either work or die" and if you die, then oh well, nature is simply taking it's course.

I refuse to be or act in such a mid-evil way. Personally for me, I wish money period was abolished all over the world, but since it's not, (And not going to happen) we have to deal with it in the most rational and "Humane" way possible. Your mid-evil thinking is the same in; weed out the poor, only the "Able" survive and "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it".

This way of thinking dry l.f. does not work, and if you want proof of that, look at our current situation or more importantly, look at a third world country where 5 and 6 year old children or begging on one corner and their parents on another. Unfortunately, they are the lucky ones...At least they are "Able" to walk and stand to beg.

Canadian Health Care

http://www.city-journal.org/html/17_3_ca...hcare.html

The government has a job to protect the citizens from foreign invaders. That's it. The job of the government isn't to rob the rich to pay for the poor. There is no excuse for being so poor you have to beg on the street. In America we make kids to go to school or their parents go to jail. If anyone is under 30 and having to dumpster dive to make it then I don't feel sorry for them.

I could care less what happens in third world countries. That's what is wrong with Americans is that we get into everyone elses business. We can't save everyone all over the world. We can't even get our own issues taken care of. I work, I pay taxes, I'm not on wellfare. I do my part to contribute to the government ran money machine and that's about all I care about. Everyone needs to focus on making themselves better and stop focusing on trying to make everyone else better. Let people make their own beds and lie in them. That's life. If an eighteen year old adult can't figure out that they need to be in college getting an education instead of making babies then that's their own fault. Give those kids to someone who can feed them if their parents can't.

So the Canadian government spends double what the US spends on health care. That equates to higher taxes for the people.

Any healthcare system has it's horror stories. The few examples given in this article are not the norm.

Yes, it's true that prescription drugs aren't covered. How is this an argument against socialized medicine? It's not covered, and it meaned socialized medicine is bad. If it were covered, then Canada would only be deeper into the Socialist nightmare you fear so much. There's no pleasing you.

The description of stinking hallways full of people waiting 5 days for treatment isn't accurate. It's just not. I've been to the ER twice this year and at any given time there were no more than a dozen people waiting.

That's your definition. Do you really think the US would be better off without public roads? Without public police and fire departments? What about murder? If it's citizen on citizen violence it's out of the government's hands? Get a clue.

DLF, nobody is claiming you can get healthcare without paying taxes. You're arguing against nobody here.

I want to reiterate. It's simply not true that Canadians are unhappy with healthcare.

Nope, we pay less overall tax than you. Less war. And you pay more for your health care per person than we do. But the Americans coul dnever have the Canadian system, they are too greedy. It takes a level of politeness, of not taking everything you can get your hands on to make tax funded health care work.
RE: Uni Health Care
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand DLF demonstrates how empathy is a trait we should all love and cherish no matter what.

Whether a health system works depends on how it is designed, organised and funded. It has nothing to with individual morality.

As it turns out,I 'm half Canadian and have dual citizenship. (mum was born in Vancouver) and I also have about 130 living US relatives. I've visited both countries and have never had a bad experience (Apart from that dropkick immigration official ,who was under the delusion that EVERYONE wants to live in the US,and he was doing me a huge favour letting me enter at all)

Greed and selfishness are part of the human condition. As individuals, the Americans I've met are no worse than people in any other country I've visited. .All treated me with civility, many were very kind to me,and generous to a fault. About the only obvious American cultural traits I've noticed is the desire to please and the need to be liked. There are far worse qualities to have.

Pip, your comment is bigoted and disappointing. I suggest you try some traveling, without the judgmental attitude.
