Uni Health Care
RE: Uni Health Care
I do not have the need or desire to be liked by anyone. I am me and if someone likes me for me then great and if not then I don't need them anyway. I don't know many Americans that feel any different than I do. Sure there are those that want to be "popular" but usually that stops at high school. That is not the American way. I am not evil. I also understand we need some taxes. I never said we need no taxes. We need roads and we need police officers and other various things that help keep us safe and contribute to our economy. We do not need stupid taxes and this free healthcare is one of those things that will bring about taxes that we don't need. I realize that no one is saying it won't raise taxes and that's the point. No new taxes!!!! If I wanted healthcare I'd go out and buy a plan. I'm a young healthy adult with no preexisting conditions and I can get a Blue Cross plan for relatively cheap. My husbands last employer offered a family plan for about two hundred a month and it wasn't even that great. We paid more into it than we really used.

I can't believe people are complaining about insurance not covering preexisting conditions. Insurance companies are there to make money. They are a business and you can't expect them to allow people to wait until they have a heart attack and need open heart surgery to then buy into a plan. If that were allowed the insurance companies would go broke! Why is it that people have this idea that we can't have people who actually become wealthy in America without a penalty? Isn't that what happened in early European history when we had peasants and kings? Well think of Americans as peasants and the US government as a King. The government says they don't like the fact that someone made five hundred grand this year so they will knock them down to about three or four hundred grand. How is that fair?

It is a fact that in countries where there is free healthcare that the wait time for procedures is longer. That can be life threatening in certain situations. Right now people who can afford it go to the doctor and I have to call two and sometimes three days ahead of time just to see my family doctor. To see a specialist even with a referral I have to wait sometimes months. I had to wait three months to see my dermatologist for the first time. Imagine if everyone could see any doctor at any time. We'd NEVER get to see our doctor. I'm not going to go to a doctor that barely passed medical school simply because America becomes desperate for doctors to satisfy the need. I'm not going to go see a doctor that I can't even understand his or her accent when they speak to me!! I want a good American doctor who went to a good American medical school. Those doctors will be extremely busy and forget about seeing them. What about people who need surgeries for life threatening illnesses? My dad had to wait a week for open heart surgery and he still didn't make it through. What if people have to wait months for it? It's scary and they will die before they can even get into the operating room.

This statement lends a little more insight into the mind of DLF.

I live in such a country. I don't can't say that I've experienced that it takes specially long time, or for anyone that I know. Specially people who have lived in US have not complained about it taking more time then in the USA.

The great advantages of free health care that everyone can get treated. As it is today can someone who is poor in USA get killed by not having enough money or an insurance to get a surgery, if needed. Specoially when the unemployment is high.

I don't see any disadvantages with free healthcare, but I do see it with a private healthcare.

Also I see private health care to be a stupid as having privatized police. Such things as healthcare, police and such should be controlled by the state.

USA is the last country that I would want to beomce ill in or in need of a surgery.

Quote:Pip, your comment is bigoted and disappointing. I suggest you try some traveling, without the judgmental attitude.

I am sorry to disappoint... I have done some traveling, and I don't have a judgmental attitude to bring along. If I may expand. I am American, and Canadian. I have lived in different parts of both countries the whole of my life. My observations about the "American" way of life and state of mind are based on what I have seen, and also more personal experience. I remember what it was to be American in the head, so I feel like I have a slight right to hold an "educated opinion" about said mind state. I am not trying to label all Americans as anything, and we can skip past the 4th grade "stereotypes are baaad" stuff. Americans have a way of life, as do Canadians. They each have an identity, both very similar in some respects, and very much different in others. In comparing what I think is the overall identity of Americans and Canadians, I see that the health care system we are afforded would not work if we had an American identity. If Canadians acted like Americans, the health care system here would fail. If America gets Canada's health care system, it will fail. That is my opinion, but I feel it better than some I have, as I feel I have a lot of experience. If anyone can be an expert in the differences between America and Canada, I could attempt to qualify. I again am sorry if you took my opinion to be bigoted. If you still feel so, that is acceptable.

Of course, I have a lot of bad things to say about Canada's health care system. It is in shambles right now, but we are talking about ideology, not reality. And, of course, I maintain that America needs a health care reform, but I will lend no support whatsoever to this current governments attempt or idea of reform.

And the lines are getting blurry. Canada, for the first official time, went into an illegal, offensive war action. As of a few years ago this place started to remind me of home, in the worst way.

Anyways. Go patriots (not the football team). Fuck Obama.

There are people who don't want to work to pay for your healthcare. If you want it then you work for it yourself. I'm not going to feel sorry for you or your kids if you don't have any health plans that help you pay for your care. I can't believe people expect to get medical treatment for free. Nothing is free!! Stop looking for a handout.

People who live in countries with free health care right now are obviously going to prefer their own system the way it is because that's all they have known. What is wrong with me wanting an American doctor who was educated at an American school? The whole idea is to keep money in America and promote the education and prosperity of Americans. I'm not interested in creating jobs with this free healthcare that attract foreign doctors to move to America. We need to put the American doctors we have living here right now in business.
RE: Uni Health Care
Third world countries, for instance, obviously can't afford heatlhcare. So are you saying they should all just be left to die when they're very ill, Since they can't afford heatlhcare?

I think health should obviously be a given as previously stated. It should be free - people have a right to life, it's not always your fault when you can't afford to pay for your own health.

That is exactly what she's saying. She's a young person with a sense of entitlement who cares for no one but herself. There is no getting threw to her.

Missy I don't want anything from you, least of all pity. Don't feel sorry for me about anything. I never said I didn't have health insurance. You don't know what your talking about. You only listen to the lies and propaganda that's been feed to you. You're closed mined and think your opinion is the only right opinion to have. You wont even consider that there may be another side to a story. People like you are the downfall of your precious USA.
